Has anyone else had this problem with the ID L? I got mine about 2 months ago, and it has been fine until tonight. I played with it, put it down on my bed, and picked it up about an hour later and it had two little spots of dead pixels. They looked like dots, and now several hours later they've grown into two horizontal lines. I've never dropped it or anything. Does anyone have any idea why this would just randomly happen? :'(

It could most likely be one of these-

Battery Placement

Make sure you don't put it in the heat. I've heard from a few members that if it's in the sun (without sunglasses ;) ), something in it leaks and causes the pixels to fade.

Check with your family to see if one of them has dropped it and secretly put it back without telling. Pointless, I know, but it could be true. :p

Open the back and see if the Battery is in it properly, if not, fix it up and it will probably go back to normal. If not, hit the reset button.

Interesting - can you show us how these dead pixels looked like? This is the first time I've heard of a dead pixel incident in a coloured Tamagotchi. But considering it has an LCD screen, that makes sense.

I hope this works.... and I'm sorry these pictures are so huge, I don't know how to really do pictures on here. The first one I took last night shortly before I made the topic (after I realized the dead pixels are spreading) and the second one I took about an hour ago today. They're a little blurry because I took them on my phone, but as you can see, it's definitely getting worse. :( I've tried resetting it and replacing the batteries with no luck.

Does anyone know of an email address I can contact Bandai Japan with?

You can always contact Bandai Japan on their support page but if you're not from Japan and does not speak Japanese, I'm not exactly sure how they will deal with the issue.

the eraser trick wont work as the tamagotchi idls screen is connected by a ribbon cabel at the top under the plastic.

Maybe you should take it apart, make sure the screen is in place, clean it off, and check the circuit board. :p I think it may work, I had to do that with my friends iD L.
