Sure I love my parents but it is very important to be able to distance yourself. It's part of growing up. There was never a time when I disliked them for any reason. I never had an emotional rollercoaster of emotions with all that growing up.

Respect your parents if they deserve it. Also, remember, there are some pretty terrible ones out there.

I agree with Mothra.. I do love my parents, and certainly realize that there are some terrible parents out there.. A personal example would be my best friend's. As Mothra said though, it is important to be able to distance yourself.. You have to become independent eventually because they won't follow you everywhere to cut up your food for you or to do your laundry!
