I noticed that when I was performing for the judges (I failed) that the song I was playing sounded different then when you play it with your band at the studio (it was the same song it just sounded bad when I was playing it for the judges). Did my performance sound bad because I didn't practice enough? Thank you!!

 
The type of music might have changed. Lets say when you went to the Studio to practice your band played Jazz music. When you go to see the judges the music type might have changed. Your band could now play Rock 'n' Roll music. And yes, you didn't practice with your band enough. Keep practicing and you'll pass soon. ;)

 
Side note: There are two (2) versions of each music genre, the original that you'll usually hear when playing with your band when practising. The other plays at random times during a concert.
