The few odd pets I have (a Funny Chick, original Gigapet, and Digimon V-pet) are too simplistic for my liking and don't keep me interested. They're cute, but I want something a little more complex than just feed, clean up poo, and repeat cycle. I know that's what a lot of the original pets are like, and I loved them back in the day, but they're unable to hold my attention what with the newer Tamas out now. Are there any odd pets out there that are more complicated/interactive/fun to play? The Aquapalz was one I was thinking of, but I don't know of any other than that.

Thank you!

Do you want it to be a pet pet, or a game pet? If you like Pokemon, there are question 'pets' you can get where it's like the actual pokemon game but... kinda not. You battle and catch them, and can even connect to battle others, and raise their levels, etc. Look up the Pokemon Cyberball or Superball, they're pretty fun. There's many kinds--personally I prefer the version 2, being both the Pokeball and the Hyperball, each having their own set of Pokemon to catch.

As for other odd pets that are complex.... hm.... Well the Aquapalz are not complex, really. By day 2 or 3, it's an adult already. Not too demanding either.

Uhhh... maybe the Dragon Quest Slime would be something you'd be interested in, or a Tamawalkie. Both are pedometer quest pets, but you still have to feed and care for them at the same time, so there's a good bit of stuff to do, at least to keep it interesting. Here's the slime:

Honestly I don't think anything can top the color Tamagotchis when it comes to being complex. >_>

Excellent post, thank you! Lots of great suggestions. By "complex," I meant what you could do with it.

For the Pokemon Superball, is it this one here, or the second one?

The Dragon Quest Slime seems interesting. Does it have any features that make it stand out from other pets (besides for being a pedometer/being related to Dragon Quest).

The Dinkie Pets do seem a little too basic when it comes to thing to do (though I agree they're complex when it comes to care!).

Pocket Puppy sounds like fun. I'll check it out.

Anyway, good point. There really isn't anything that comes close to the color Tamas. I just want something that rivals the Connections, but it seems like something along those lines is still hard to find.

One neat feature is you can chose where to go on the map and the terrain changes as you walk through it, so the terrain on the side changes from rocks to leaves to water, etc. And certain points on the map if you find them will evolve your slime into special characters.

As for the Pokemons there, the orange one. The other is just one you shake to catch Pokemon randomly, no game to it at all. You want the flat one you showed there, or one like these:

Those are version 2s and they have different ones in them. But neither of them have the 'chip' that plugs in next to the screen. No biggy all it does is press on 3 prongs inside to do special things, you could even make them by hand.

There's also these ones, which are newer but to me are not as good because they removed a lot of the neat pixel animations:

The red one above there is harder to find. It's based on diamond and pearl, the blue one is based on black and white. They can battle each other, but not the older versions. The older versions can all battle.

Thank you! Glad I asked. I might have bought that one and not realized it.

One other question: I know a lot of people love the Gyaoppi pets. I was wondering what makes them different/better then other odd pets?

They're pretty interesting. Some have a weather feature in which you need to give them a hat or umbrella or something depending on what's going on. You can pause them. You can also speed up growth to go 2-3 times as fast if you want to hurry up the evolution. And in some you can get multiple pets.

They're not that bad at all, i suggest getting a 9-in-1 if you can, or the rare 10-in-1. I had a 10-in-1, didn't realize it was a good idea to keep it, snagged it cheap from an antique store. Oh well. :(

Here's the cheapest I can find of the multipet version: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Gyaoppi-9-in-1-Virtual-Pet-/141026247293?pt=Electronic_Battery_Windup_Toys_US&hash=item20d5d1c27d

I kinda wish I had kept my stash--local 99 cent stores had them and I used to get them a resell them. but I was in my early tens at the time, I didn't understand how rare pets would end up being.

I was just planning on buying that one, but someone snagged it. ^^; Oh well, it happens. I'll keep an eye out.

I completely understand the stash part--I used to have so many v-pets. I ended up giving away most of them or selling them for a buck at garage sales. I wish I could go back in time and talk some sense into my old self, but...granted, there's no way I would've known that at the time. *sighs*

Anyway, thanks for all your help! :D
