Okay so any of y'all who know me yes yes I am actually talking about Tamagotchi oh my gosh how mysterious whatever anyways

So like I'm a crafter, and naturally as a crafter I gotta customize a Tamagotchi. I removed the design with acetone already, but it's a V5 so it has the annoying antenna thingamajig that looks like a roof and no man just no it just does not work at all it's gotta go.

I want to cut it off/remove it somehow, but if it actually has a bit of the hardware stored inside then I'm just gonna have to suck it up and deal with it totally not working with the design. But if it really is for decorative purposes, how would I go about doing this? Anyone have customization experience?

(And like I don't care if it's difficult or anything. I can figure it out. I always do. I just need to know if it's possible.)

I've token off my v4 antenna completely. The way I did it was just a hand saw and cut it at a angle and sand it down to level it out. Then I put a sticker over the hole. I love it :)

If I'm not mistaken, the thingy on top of the antenna (at least in V4s and 4.5s, I'm not totally certain about V5s) can be removed a little more easily than with a saw.

If you carefully take the Tamagotchi apart (to the circuit board I'm pretty sure) you can get to where the antenna is attached and pop it out from there. After that you can put the Tamagotchi back together and it will simply have an antenna with no roof on it. :)

In this case, you have to take note of what you do with the screws, and be cautious with the sound wires, as they're pretty fragile.

...I might be wrong about this as I've never taken apart a V5 before.

The antennas actually dont bother me at all really. I could see in the case of wanting the custom design and the roof shape not working, but just in general, i just keep them the way they are :)

but before taking a saw to it i would definately check out the taking it apart option first! It would be alot cleaner/neater of a hole that way.

Hahahaha I have so tried this before XD

...Accidentally...

I'm naturally a take-it-apart kinda girl, so after getting fed up of my v5 I just HAD to see what was inside...

Amat Gotchi was right; just open up the tamagotchi and press out the antenna roof! I'd never get a saw on the job for fear it would snap the tamagotchi altogether!

But the reason I said "accidentally" is because I put my v5 back together and... Forgot to add the roof.. Ahhh that was ouchy.

You want the whole antennae off yes? I think if you took it all off, it would be fine. I personally would use a jewelry saw or an exacto knife and cut it off. Then sand off the edges because likely, there will be some... Then take some air dry clay, (model magic from playdoh works well) and cover the hole. You may choose to use sealer on the playdoh or some sort of cover for it too. That stuff can be shaped into the shell very easily and can be removed just as easy later.

Well I haven't taken apart a V5 before so I'm not sure of the extent of "guts" that go in the antennae, so this might not even work, but if you can solder at all you might want to consider buying a broken V1, V2, or V6 and just swapping out the shell? You might like that better than having a hole in your tama lol

Britty is right, this would be a lot easier and better than cutting the antenna off...
There is nothing inside the antenna and the roof can be taken out. You'd simply have a square-like antenna without a roof. ;)

I'm going for just an egg shape. so sawing/cutting, sanding, and molding would be the route to go.

It was slowly going well, cutting it off with a knife, until I kinda sorta sliced my finger. Usual procedure, wash, bandage, still not feeling pain...Luckily it wasn't as bad as it could've been, but now that I know I'm not careful enough to absolutely not get cut, I perfer not to risk it. Or at least until it heals and I get all deredevil crazy

Perhaps I was using the knife wrong. I just went for it. IDK if there's a proper way to go about cutting plastic away but I was just sliding it back and forth like a saw and pushing it down whenever I got (unfortunately) impatient. But when I do things I don't read instructions I just go for it that's my special little flaw.

So um yeah. I don't have a saw and porn would be easier to explain than buying a broken Tamagotchi (awesome awesome idea though). Plan B?

EDIT: HA NEVERMIND I went into daredevil mode and cut that badboy right off. It was a big hole and you could clearly see the hardware inside, so I carefully sanded the edges and sealed it with clay. Imma paint it in the morning and show a pic of my lovely egg.

Psst that was a Toy Story quote

Thanks y'all, super happy to see an idea become real with a little craft and determination, and of course help from you guys. You rock.

And for all you super swag people here's the original design so it's like before and after yay: https://gi260.photobucket.com/groups/ii28/45WPEG0H5U/984e_1.jpg
