Hi, i have found my Tamagotchi again :) ! Neither of them worked until i replaced the battery. That's when i realized something, is Tamagotchi for boys or girls   ? I am currently 14 (male). I dont know whether i sshould keep playing, (even though it is pretty fun.) or just stop    !! It is driving me nuts  ! Somebody help me...

I would think it's for girls because you take care of a pet and stuff... But I don't judge. ^_^

omg there are so many ppl in the word girl and boys that play and collect these ^.^ Ratamazone hes one of the biggest collectors on here, and hes a guy lol I am a 24 year old mother of two and married lol, its perfectly fine as long as you enjoy them ^.^ so no worries <3

You can definately tell some shells are geared towards girls and some toward boys... and some neutral... but they wouldnt make boyish shells if they thought only girls liked them :)

OMG GUYS, you are great. Thank u. i mentioned this because my Japanese friend Jeffery said it was only for girls and any male that played it back in japan was shunned and considered gay  <_< ! like, what?!? Thanks again guys

*Topic moved to 'What's On Your Mind'*
Btw, what do u mean?

TamaMum Edit: It means a TamaTalk moderator moved your topic into the correct subforum area - because you originally started this new topic in the "Team Stories" forum ;)

I moved it so it was in the right section as TamaMum said.

Tamagotchi is for everyone! It would be like saying kittens are only for little kids. Sure, they are more geared towards girls in Japan now and can be veiwed that based on that TamaGo, but guys will still buy them if they like them. Even if they make one color products, such as the Pocket Designer for the Tama P's in a pastel pink, guys will buy them. Ironically, lots of girls will repaint the girly color/designs to be more boyish.

So it is getting over the fear of being looked apon as a strange person which is a hurdle, but you'll feel much better being yourself and showing off what you like.

If it helps, I'm a 19 years old guy and I always loved all kind of tamagotchis. After a long time im back with my v2 and waiting for an ID L, which is taking forever to arrive >.< But only my family knows it. I don't feel like telling any of my friends about it yet.

So yeah, I don't believe it's a girly thing at all, although is not really accepted by society, sadly.

In Japan it might be a bit different only because the new tamagotchis really are girly and what not and are aimed towards young girls now, lol.

But either way, who cares what others think, right? :)

Do what you love. Don't let society rule your life.

Haha naw I play with them and I a really big guy collector and I'm 15 :p just have fun with them!

although is not really accepted by society, sadly.
This is just as true for us gals though as it is for guys... just because theyre "toys" and most of us are.... well... older. lol

There's nothing girly about Tamagotchis at all! Boys are allowed to have pets like cats and dogs right? So they should be able to look after virtual pets as well without any worries!

We have the same age and I have 13 Tamagotchis and I'm guy and I don't really care :p I play my Tamas at public all the time so don't worry ^_^ There's a lot of guys here that play Tamagotchis. The list could go forever :p Tamagotchis are for everyone :D

Hi DracoWolf124,

Whatever age you are, whatever gender you are, whatever species you are, it doesn't matter! You've probably already seen a numerous amount of people on this site that have love for Tamagotchi, and are male (and adults/older teens). Playing with a Tamagotchi won't make you stupid, it will make you different. You don't have to like things that other boys like, liking Tamagotchi is one of the things which make you unique. ^_^

I wish I had a male friend who liked Tamagotchi. I feel childish whenever I bring my Tama to work because mostly men work in the grill area and our "break room" is a small room with no door. They also keep their drinks in this room. Since drinks are barred from entering the grill, every five minutes they would take a sip and go back to work. This is why I have to pause my Tama (or freeze the time on the Color Tamas) to avoid feeling 10 years behind everyone else.

So I respect all you outgoing male Tamagotchi fans!

Tamagotchis are now aimed to young girls.

If the older versions (Tama-Go, V6 and less) were aimed at both genders (and of course childrens), you can now clearly see the Japanese Tamas are super girly with pastel colors, stars and diamonds incrusted, the boxes being so feminine... Also, there were no boyish sets released.

I think a boy can play - even do he's not really supposed too. Same for an adult or a teenager. I know I'm being immature in asking a toy that's recommended player age is 6-12 for X-mas. But gawd I do not care.

You are asking a site where some members might even have grandchildren (at least on tama zone there were some, wouldn't be surprised if here too. On the note- on the most popular furby forum most members were in their 60's from what I remember.) and are still playing with tamas, no matter what gender they have.

Gender roles are a very bad thing, and if somebody ever tells you that tamagotchis are girly just ignore them. Seriously, why does it matter who is playing with what?

About japanese releases... Yeah, they are aimed for girls, but in Japan it is generally more socially acceptable for guys to like such things if they do.

Also, how does playing with a virtual pet define your sexuality? I always hate it when people call others gay just because of things they like...
