I wish I had a male friend who liked Tamagotchi. I feel childish whenever I bring my Tama to work because mostly men work in the grill area and our "break room" is a small room with no door. They also keep their drinks in this room. Since drinks are barred from entering the grill, every five minutes they would take a sip and go back to work. This is why I have to pause my Tama (or freeze the time on the Color Tamas) to avoid feeling 10 years behind everyone else.

So I respect all you outgoing male Tamagotchi fans!

Tamagotchis are now aimed to young girls.

If the older versions (Tama-Go, V6 and less) were aimed at both genders (and of course childrens), you can now clearly see the Japanese Tamas are super girly with pastel colors, stars and diamonds incrusted, the boxes being so feminine... Also, there were no boyish sets released.

I think a boy can play - even do he's not really supposed too. Same for an adult or a teenager. I know I'm being immature in asking a toy that's recommended player age is 6-12 for X-mas. But gawd I do not care.

You are asking a site where some members might even have grandchildren (at least on tama zone there were some, wouldn't be surprised if here too. On the note- on the most popular furby forum most members were in their 60's from what I remember.) and are still playing with tamas, no matter what gender they have.

Gender roles are a very bad thing, and if somebody ever tells you that tamagotchis are girly just ignore them. Seriously, why does it matter who is playing with what?

About japanese releases... Yeah, they are aimed for girls, but in Japan it is generally more socially acceptable for guys to like such things if they do.

Also, how does playing with a virtual pet define your sexuality? I always hate it when people call others gay just because of things they like...

I think is just for people who just want a pet without the fuss or just people who can't have a real pet.

Toys don't have set genders. That's a stupid idea sexist ideal that absolutely destroys childrens self esteem. There is numerous charities all over the world who campaign to drop genders for toys. This means that when you walk into TRU they'll be using gender-neutral colours instead of plastering pink and blue everywhere, as well as they'll have to use boys on their Barbie dream house adverts too ;).

Boys and girls can play with Tamagotchis, don't sweat it.

The fact that they say tamas are girly...

Well, it is sort of true, not completely, the new desighs, are sorta suiting more for girls> more pink, stars, and such stuff...

But the tamagotchis in general, specially if you think how they looked like back in 90's? They are not girly...

Everyone is allowed to act the way they want. But as for the comments of others, just ignore them.

People who follow stereotypes, like a LOT, are actually wrong themselves. There is something special, about people that no matter what others say,do what they like! They stand out in the crowd! :D

Besides, they say that Tamas are for young children, yes indeed, but check out how many people out there [in here actually]enjoy them!!!

They are for every age, for every gender, and every ethnicity! What if you are in Greece, and what if you are in Japan? I'm in 9th grade, and I still love my tamas, and I have this comminity to share that with happiness! My family knows, but my friends dont. They know tamas, they don't think bad of them, just that they are kinda childlike...

So, what I'm trying to say, is Keep calm, and love tamas! :D

Well, I am a female, but I also am (almost) 22 years old and I don't give a cookie about the fact that Tamagotchis are considered toys for children. To me it's a wonderful hobby, for both males and females and for both younger and older people! As long as you enjoy it - do it! It is YOURS to decide whether or not to play with them!
Besides, I've never heard that boys playing Tamagotchis are gay, lol. xD And especially Japan should keep their mouth shut considering how the 'boys' there look like, lol... xDDD

Gender identity and appearance has mothing to do with sexuality in the first place, so even less does liking certain things.
