"Hey, have you heard the news?" asked Uwasatchi. It was clear that she reveled in the feeling of gathering and spreading gossip. Makiko had grown used to it, so she normally just sat and listened, aware that she was helpless to stop the chattery Tamagotchi once she got started.
"There's going to be a new student here soon! I've heard that her parents have started a cafe with all sorts of yummy treats!" Makiko was glad that today's gossip update was harmless, and no one was offended. She was convinced that one day Uwasatchi would learn her lesson and realize that not all gossip is good.
"Hey Makiko, do you want to join Mametchi, Kutchipatchi and I at the cafe after school today?" Memetchi asked Makiko after the conversation turned to topics such as whether or not the menu at the cafe would include pizza.
"Sure, I would love to." She answered. She had been at this school for a while now, and she enjoyed it very much. Everyone was nice to her, and she had lots of Tamafriends.
When the day ended, Makiko joined her friends and walked to the new cafe. They found it after a few minutes of following Busstoptchi, but Makiko lingered outside for a moment while her friends sat down at a table and looked at the menu. The cafe itself was pleasant enough, well decorated but not too bold, welcoming but not too flashy. She felt that it was almost empty somehow. That maybe someone living there was sad. She shook her head as if to clear it from her puzzling thoughts, and joined in on the debate over which was better, cupcakes or pie.
Wanting to get a better look around, Makiko excused herself to the ladies' room. As she wandered around to the back of the cafe, she heard a noise. She jumped into the perfectly trimmed bushes to hide, realizing that the sound was a large car of some sort coming closer. Surely she wouldn't get in any trouble by being behind the cafe... But she felt that it was best that she stayed hidden.
"Yes, I'm fine... No, not tomorrow... But it's my first day! Can't that wait...? Thank you, goodbye." Makiko heard a voice speak, but was only hearing one side of a conversation. She peeked out through the bushes and saw someone step out of the bus that had pulled up to the cafe. She saw a familiar face, but couldn't think of who it was. Not wanting to be caught, she returned to her the table with her friends.
"Your ice cream looks so yummy tchi!" Kutchipatchi had almost drooled on everyone's food.
"So does your pie, why don't you eat that." Makiko said, getting rather annoyed by the green Tamagotchi's slobber.
"Mmmm... This peach ice cream is the best!" Exclaimed Memetchi as she stuffed another spoonful into her mouth.
"Peach? Strawberry is always better!" Argued Makiko. Mametchi rolled his eyes, sensing another fight between the two friends. Kutchipatchi was too busy murmuring praises to his cherry pie to notice what was going on around him.
"Peach!"
"Strawberry!"
"Peach!"
"Strawbe--"
"ENOUGH!" Interrupted Mametchi, jumping between Makiko and Memetchi. "They're both great flavors, just enjoy your ice cream!" Makiko and Memetchi sat down, slightly embarrassed, and finished their desserts. Soon enough, the conversation turned back to friendly chatter. Although Makiko was interested in Mametchi's new freeze ray, she couldn't help thinking of the Tamagotchi she had seen earlier. I think I've seen her before... She thought to herself. She decided that she would just have to wait until she saw her again to find out.
