A while ago, I saw someone who made little pouches out of duct tape for their tamas. That got me thinking. I was wondering if I could use duct tape to create a snug sheath (hehe old english) for my IDL. After all, you can use duct tape for anything 
. My very first one was absolutely terrible. It was extremely lumpy and had tons of folds all over it. I figured out that I can't just shape the duct tape in the shape of the shell. My next approach was a basket style case. It had thin strips of duct tape that run vertically around the tama and met in the center of the back. I found that it was much smoother. The first one I made was bit too shallow I think. It did not snugly hug the tamagotchi on top, and it would slip out if I picked it up upsidedown. I recently completed one that completely covers the tamagotchi, all the way up to the silver ring around the faceplate. As I was making it I was a little bit worried about how I was going to get it out, since the top opening was narrower than the largest point of the bulge (hard to explain but you'll see in the pictures). After I finished it up, it was REALLY hard to slip it off. I had to use a lot of force to get that thing off. After it was off it would NOT go back on. Then I got the idea to cut a slot for the IR port. Conveniently, this would allow the case to open up just enough to slip the tama in. It also makes it so much easier to take out. Frankly, I was shocked at how easily I could get it on and off, and yet how strongly the case held the tama during the shake tests I did ^_^ .
Here is the back. You can see how all of the strips meet in the middle. I was thinking it would be cool to buy some orange and red duct tape and make a sunburst design by alternating strips.

Here's the case off the tamagotchi. For some reason, this camera goes RIGHT to the seams in the duct tape. They are not that noticeable irl. Also pictured on the left is the second case I made that was too shallow.
If any of you guys want, I could make a tutorial for these guys. It's really not very hard, but it does take an hour or two to make a nice one. And in case you're wondering, no, the adhesive from the duct tape never comes in contact with the tamagotchi. That would really be a sticky mess!
