I've fallen in love with Tamagotchis all over again and I want to buy a new one, but I understand that the latest Tamagotchis sold on eBay are all in Japanese?

Is it possible to use the Japanese version even if I have no knowledge of the language?

Which one is the best to buy?

Most, If not all Japanese Tamagotchis, are fun and easy to understand even without any knowledge of the language. I have an all Japanese Tamagotchi collection and yet I have no problem understanding it. Sure, you might get confused at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll find it more enjoyable and more fun. The Tamagotchi ID-L, which is the second latest Japanese tamagotchi, has an English version. I would not recommend this as they are known to have a lot of bugs/errors when you can have a Japanese one with a lower price.

I suggest you buy the P's or the ID-L as they have a lot of features and they're really fun.

You may want to take note that the latest Japanese Tamagotchi, which is the P's, is kinda text-heavy. It is text-heavy due to interaction among characters and just conversations and isn't really important.

I think I'd recommend the P's because it's really fun to play with, and it has the most features because it's the latest Japanese Tamagotchi. However, some people prefer the iD-L better because it has a few different features to the P's.

There's translation guides on TamaTalk for both.

P's:

iD-L:

If you're really worried about the Japanese, you can purchase the English iD-L. Remember to note that it may be more costly than the Japanese iD-L and, as SupahCow said, have bugs and errors. There are other versions such as the +Color and the Tamagotchi iD which you can research about around TamaTalk. ^_^

Are they still currently manufacturing the P's?

Yes, I believe they are manufacturing them still. (Not 100% sure, but as it's the newest color version, it seems that they'd still be manufacturing them.)

Japanese Tamagotchis are no problem in my experience. I have an iD L and a P's. I love the simple gameplay on my iD L. It's a good choice if you're a busy person; if I was a tiny bit less busy I'd probably be running it. The P's is more complex than the iD L, and it takes up more time in my experience. I'd say it's more fun but less convenient to play with.

And just for reference, the best place to buy a Tamagotchi...I'd say eBay. I got my P's on eBay for about 25 dollars, much less expensive than it could have been. I got my iD L on CDJapan for 65 dollars, more than I should have paid for it. It's also good to check tBay here too.
