Tamagotchi P's: raising more than one character?

Hi there! Sorry for the noobish question, I'm very new to "modern" tamagotchis. I was wondering if can you have multiple characters on the same tamagotchi? (For the P's and iD L specifically)

For example, if I raised a Kuchipatchi and then wanted to start over. Would my Kuchipatchi be erased (like the original generation tamas)? Or can I somehow still access my Kuchi while raising a new character?

Once your adult character marries another adult character, a wedding scene appears. After this, you will return back to your house, this time with a baby. There is a short animation when the parent and the baby bonds. They will play with each other, then the adult character reads a book to the baby to sleep. Once the baby is asleep, the adult character will go away and then you will start with a new generation with a new Tamagotchi.

Though you can not raise multiple Tamagotchis, your previous Tamagotchis might make a cameo. They might appear when you go to the Music Cafe or the restaurant. They may also appear on an unlockable place. They will be also recorded on your "Memory Book" where you could find your previously raised Tamagotchis, TamaPets and Friends you have connected with.
