Japanese Tamagotchi IDL

Inside the battery compartment is another compartment (pictures provided below) that (after a search left me empty of info) brought me back to the forum I used and helped me out with info when I got my new Tama last christmas ...I hope someone can shed some detailed light on this cause im confused..





 
Well, I've seen that little compartment thing on my iD L but I never opened it. I'm not sure what it's for, but I assume it was just made like that for some manufacturing reason.

 
So not for debug or maybe translating? hmm still leaves me wondering I wish someone knew for sure...
