Hey!

A few months ago, I made a topic about the missing/faded pixels on my P1 - images are here: https://imgur.com/a/rarUd

I was told to open it up, and clean some areas with a q-tip/cotton bud and some alcohol, & I have now finally gotten round to open it up! Although I'm now unsure about which areas need to be 'checked' or 'cleaned'.

Here are some pictures of the surgery in progress: https://imgur.com/a/yHNRq

I can provide more pictures if needed! :)

Thank you in advance ^_^

The back round part, rub that clean. I seems white-ish to me. Then between the blue spot and the fork thingi there looks like a bit of discoloration. I don't use anything but the cottonswab for the cleaning. Usually the pixels come back. Check for white-ish or discoloration on the darker green paths and rub those off too. Be careful of the rubbers on the screen. Also, tightening of the inner screws should help the display too.

Thank you for your reply! :)

When you say the back round part, do you mean the sides of the green circuit board? And the fork thingy the areas where the batteries press onto?
I looked on the board and did find some areas of what looks like discolouration, I've circled them on this picture: https://imgur.com/hrV5sar
I hope the pictures are clear enough! I don't have a macro lens for my camera so unfortunately I can't get much more detail. :/

Thank you again <3

The bottom long oval you need to clean, and the bars on the top that are the same. On the screen itself, clean the pink pads that touch those bars but be gentle and let it dry completely.

When you close it up, make sure everything is good and tight (not excessively so). Also use the freshest/newest batteries you have.

I cleaned those areas, but another problem has occurred - I took the tamagotchi to a watch repair shop to get the screws out (the ones covering the circuit board) - and although 3 of the 4 screws are going back in easily enough, one of them is being stubborn to get back in or come out again (the screw has been stripped :/) so I can't put the back cover on to hold the batteries in.

When I hold & push the batteries in with my fingers though, the screen seems to be the same (faded/missing pixels); once the egg has hatched i'll take a photograph of it with its lights turned off so is clearer to see :)

Edit: https://imgur.com/LeumOfv here is a photo of the screen, I'm holding the batteries in and the masking tape is helping heheh

Something like that usually means there's not enough, or too much, pressure of the screen to the board. Or the rubber pads that have the circuits in them that's attached to the screen could be damaged, for which there is no fix.

Ah I see, I'll take it to the watch repair shop again tomorrow to see if they can remove the screws (maybe see if i can get some replacement ones!), and then I'll look closer at the conductive rubber strips to see if they have any signs of damage, I'll post pictures too :)

Thank you!
