Basically I sold 2 of my Tamagotchi P's 1 of them with a coffretchi decorating set on eBay and there were several bidders and the winning bidder made extra bids on the last day to make sure they won however 3 days after the listing has ended the buyer has turned around to me and told me they don't want it which has made me furious because they have cost me fees from eBay for listing it and now I don't know what to do...

Why would someone bid and then not pay? Has anyone had experience with this before? Do I just lose out on the sale?

Hey there! This happens sometimes on ebay, I have no idea why. I think sometimes people bid, then look at their bank account and realize they don't actually have that much money. It's irresponsible but it happens. If there were other bidders, you might be able to give them a "Second Chance Offer" which means they get it for their highest bid (usually lower than the original high bidder, though :/). I think that way you at least don't miss out on the fees. Best of luck to you!

You can do one of two things:

  • Second chance offer to the 2nd highest bidder for the price they bid
  • Cancel the transaction and fees will not be deducted (as far as I know); however this requires the buyer to also agree to the cancellation
Worse comes to worse, you can file a report on Ebay and more than likely they'll not charge you the fees and they might give you the ability to leave a negative feedback;if not, they'll at least ding the buyer's account and/or suspend them for a period of time.

Trust me, I've been on Ebay since I was 14 (almost 13 years now; I bypassed the age limit only to buy stuff with my lunch money, lol) and I know the ins and outs. Just make sure you read all the rules and know your rights! And worse comes to worse, call Ebay directly and speak to someone whom can help you and give you all the info you need.

I sell on ebay sometimes and I once sold a ring and the buyer decided they didn't want it, so you can cancel the transaction and you should get your fees back, BUT I'd still report them for being a none payer and this puts a strike on their account. eBay told me that if a member does that 3 times, i.e 3 strikes on their account, their account gets closed.

Thanks guys a bit late reply here but in the end I did report them and cancel the transaction I also did a second chance offer to the 2nd highest bidder but had no response in the time limit so I ended up relisting it and someone bought it from the buy out option

Sounds like it worked out in the end, then. :)
