Hello tamtalk? I'm kinda new here, I usually register in blogs of the fandoms I'm in so I can keep with the news and stuff, I don't usually post much anywhere, but in this case it's nice to know what other users think, getting a new tamagotchi is something really pricey and is a decission one shouldn't take too easilly xD

Well, lemme present myself, I'm Myiko, male, turning 18 in october, studying to be an artist in the future, so Hi tamatalk~

I stopped playing with tamas before the release of the tama-go, but recently with the release of the Tamagotchi LIFE app, I ended up here in tamtalk, I started looking around and found about all those cool new tamas that have been released since then, and I decided to get a new one to bring back the good memories~~

What tama I decided to choose? the Tamagotchi Friends obviously, since it was the latest release. But, once I was looking for TFs on ebay, I found a TMGC+C for 4$ less than the cheapest TF I found, even though I wanted the TF I ended up getting the TMGC+C, because I thought it would be harder to get the TMGC+C in the future, and I really wanted one...

So what do you think guys, was that a good decision? TMGC+C over TF? I know the choice is done, but I wanted to know what other people think haha, I understand the TF has much more options and characters since it's newer, and it's also in english! that's important xD, but the TMGC+C has color, characters I like (I hate half of the TF's girls uh) and the best tamagotchi shell so far, so simple and not girly looking~~

I'm just worrying because of the japanese, little characters and how old the TMGC+C is, but for me it has always seemed to be one of the best tamas ever, so I hope is not too much trouble to use, I'll have to learn a little of japanese I guess :(

Well, my boyfriend got me my blue TMGC+C so I still don't have it, but he'll give it to me next week, I can't wait :p

Well, appart from that, I don't wanna make another thread so I wanted to ask another question.

If I enjoy the TMGC+C I'll be considering on getting a new japanese tamagotchi, and I'm not sure if I should get an ID L, a ID L 15th, or a 4U. (I don't like the P's and the ID looks boring)

so far the one I like the most is the 15th, since I like almost every character (and it has ura characters yay), and it has all the features of an ID L, the downside? the price -_-

the 15th version is about 20€ more expensive than the regular one. What do you think guys? are the 20€ worth it for getting the characters I like? does the 15th version have any other inporvements? is king kikitchi in both? (sorry I just love kikitchi)

I'll also consider on getting a 4U instead, but that depends only in the new features and the reviews I see when it gets released, I love it so far, it's a wonderful tama with tons of customization, but it seems to focuse too much on adult stage and it will probably be even more expensive than the ID L 15 xD

Sorry for the boring long topic, have a nice day

Welcome to Tamatalk! Please feel like at home here, we are all friendly and glad to help you through.

Well... since you waited so long since your last tamagotchi, why bother waiting more till 4u release, theres always new stuff and improvements, Bandai won't let you down.

Though true... when you wait the older colour tamas will be more expensive as it becomes rare and the people loves it and buys it. I think you should wait since you waited so long already, why bother waiting for a few more months? Tamagotchi are most popular to girls in Japan, so it was very kind of Bandai making less girly tamagotchis than P's, I guess boys are humans too.

For the Tamagotchi friends, it is in gray-scale screen which helps bring back childhood memories more strongly (hope you get what i mean).

If you already got the colour then get used to it and play it around, you can always sell it to save up for 4U if you don't like it and ya tmgc+c has the less features in all colour tamas.

I don't own a tf, but overall the paint quailty is bad and the sound quaility is also bad. Though it has a lot of fun games and features, a lot of neat characters and old characters to bring back your memories.

I love the P's though, I have one now and though it is girly, it is fine ( I am a boy) Its not like I am talking you to get it, but overall it has the most features before the 4u.

Still, encourage you to wait till 4U, You won't regret

First of all, welcome to TamaTalk!

As for my personal opinion I definitely would prefer the TMGC+C over the TF. Not just because it's in colour (but it's a huge plus!), but the concept is better as well. The TMGC+C closely follows the style of the vintage (earlier) version of Tamagotchis (longer growth periods, oldies, weather conditions etc.) It is purely in Japanese however if you already have played with Tamagotchis before, it's pretty easy to find your way around --- and if you get lost, you can always ask around.

The iD L 15th Anniversary is a special version - I believe it was released on a limited run, therefore they are no longer produced and sellers tend to overprice them a little bit. The version is almost similar to the standard iD L but with special characters which were selected by fans during a voting period prior to its release, hence it has many returning vintage characters in full colour!

I can't say much about the 4U right now but I think it will be less expensive than the 15th Anniversary because it's a new release - I personally am excited and I'm looking forward to this new release as well.

Agree to how 4u will be cheaper, coz since that lesser people will buy ID L and then it also going to become more rare at that time.

Ok it's a tough decision but between the 3 but out of all I'd recommend...... Any of the above. The idl is really good and you can get it in English of course too. Seeing as you like kikitchi you will be able to dress him up and keep him for as long as you like (they don't evolve after friend stage on the ID-4U).

if you want the 15th it is by far definitely worth the extra. By far I consider it in my opinion bandai's best ever tamagotchi and is a personal favourite in my collection the difference to the IDL being a bunch of features are replaced with old nostalgic and fan made items, characters, locations and more and the built in games I have not once been bored of playing which is a big thing seeing as I usually get bored of them quite easily. For kikitchi on the IDL he can become a king as you said but on the 15th he transforms into detective kikitchi so whichever you like best. Either of those the normal or 15th are really good.

The 4U Is yet to be released so there isn't 100% confirmation on exactly what features it has to compare with the p's and idl some like the new touch tech that exceeds the tamagotchi friend's "bump" and it connects to a smart phone using this method. Kikitchi isn't a built in however seeing as he is a favourite among japanese fans he is more than likely going to become a downloadable character in the future but you will probably need a smart phone to get him. With the 4U being new and once released expensive I suggest you wait to see if he is released or wait for more info on the toy to make sure you'd like one maybe even get it after an idl but in the end it's up to you.

Oh ya... your right! The iD L has English that nice so it is in English and then it is colour cool!

(Sorry for late reply, the last one didn't send somehow...)

Thank you!! So I guess the TMGC+C is easier to understand even if it's in japanese because it's more basic right? I hope that means it's a good tama to re-start with

But finding a boxless 4U will be quite harder than getting a boxless 15thIDL right? I just want to get a good tama without paying much, don't really care about the boxes, even if they are supercool :p

Omg you can keep him forever?? that's amazing!! o_O I should deffinetly start saving up now xD

and really I like the characterss on the 15th quite more, some of the regular ones that I didn't like got replaced for others I like, like redonesetchi! and I heard you can get uramametchi too, so maybe it's worth the price :)

Do you have a detective kikitchi picture? because I don't seem to find any :(

And about the 4U, I think it will definetly have kikitchi since he appeared in one of the pictures in the commercial I think? But I dont know if it will have as many options as the ID Ls without being in japan, I guess I'll choose depending on the price, I have both an smartphone with connection and an old infra red one from years ago, so I need to worry about downloads for any ^_^

I'm not even considering the english ID L, because it's so expensive I could buy the two ID Ls for the price of one english one, and I haven't found a single boxless english ID L ever :(

Anyway, Thanks for the help!

If you're looking to find out more information about the 15th Anniversary iD L, I ran a Tamagotchi log two years ago when I ran mine and I managed to get all characters. This might help :)

It really does help! omg that looks amazing! the 15th ID L must be the best Tamagotchi ever! I love the ura tamma town, aitai town, and a lot more! it seems like it has tons of stuff to do

Also I love how you find characters from every previous versions on the walks! that's so perfect! and how you can get some ura characters! also detective kikitchi is superadorable omg <3

You made me really want one of those, I should start saving as soon as possible

the only thing I didn't like is that you need to conect to an ID to get rednosetchi and the Prince/ss, doesn't the TMGC+C work for that? I don't want an ID :(

Thank you so much for the awesme log :)

I'l ltry to get money for one for christmas maybe, while I'll be enjoying my TMGC+C and getting used to the japanese :p

I can't wait till have it in my hands, 4 days left

Thanks for the help again! :D

You're welcome! Yes, you can use a TMGC+C to unlock the connection-related characters.

To get the Ura, you must unlock the Ura Tama Town destination by getting 10 unique generations; then you can just simply take Mametchi, Furawatchi and Memetchi there and they will be automatically transform into their Ura counterparts.
