So I was planning to paint a tama I have, though before I do it I want to give one shot at fixing it.

It is a Tamagotchi iDL english. When it arrived the backlight screen did not work, though if you shine a flashlight on the screen you can see that the tamagotchi is functioning normal otherwise.

Is it the whole screen bit that needs to be replaced? If so, how would I attach a new screen if I got one? Or is there something I can do to get it to turn on?

Any suggestions?

 
Huh never heard a non back light color screen I mean why will you accept it if it doesn't work, also, take screenshots so I could troubleshoot it for you.

The seller sent me a new one and told me to keep the broken one rather than paying shipping for a broken tama. What do you want pictures of? I've taken it apart several times so I have no problem taking it apart. I've compared it to pictures of other tamas and nothing looks out of place really.

I've been looking at the screen connection, which I had been thinking of trying to replace but Im not sure how intricate it would be to replace the screen really so I dont want to rip it off.

Cool so now you payed 1 price and have two id l english? How did you prove it to the seller and how did he/she believed you.

I did a video of putting the batteries in and shining a light on the screen and resetting multiple times etc. I cant find it now I think I might have deleted it.

I havent been able to play the blue one though so not 'cool' lol. If I can get it to work some how it'd be cool.

Do you want me to take pictures of the insides or just the outside? I wont be able to post them until tomorrow since I am at work currently and cant upload on this connection though.

Okay I'll post them here after work tomorrow. Im working to 3p-7a right now then gonna sleep and then a 3p-11p shift tomorrow

 
As a Computer Technician, I know that TFT (LCD) screens can't be seen if there aren't any backlight at all, so there IS just very dim. Maybe due to dust or cold solder joint (weld) it could also cause this problem and yes this is a defective product. To fix this, we need to know what exactly is the problem, some circuit is not working well apparently, not enough electricity is passing through the TFT. The TFT itself doesn't really look like it is solder joint after all (sorry), but there are Flash and control unit circuit solder so that won't cause the problem. Can you lift the TFT? does it move? (maybe you can sell it to me :p , I think I might want it)

XD I really want to fix it so I can have a second tama, so far I've been just keeping it incase on green one gets a scratched screen. Mr. Blinky said it needed some soldering there but he lives in the netherlands and shipping to and back would be like the same price as just buying a new one so its out of the question.

How do you mean lift the TFT? like the ribbon corner? If so I cant, not without some pressure and I dont want to break the other soldering. There does seem to be some kind of thin plastic sticker just above it that is slightly lifted though, under it I see two wires from the top screen, maybe thats the LCD connection?

 
If you don't want to resolder, you could possibly try wire glue, but it's kinda runny and you need to be careful with it. It's also not easily removable once placed.

Perhaps a small privately owned computer repair shop can be of assistance since it's an electronic device?
