Tamagotchi Spec

I read somewhere on the forums that someone was trying to translate the Tamagotchi P's into english by patching the flash memory. As a programmer this seemed interesting to me which brings me to my question. Does anyone have any info on what chipset the tamagotchis run, what programming language they are programmed in, or something similar to create my own "virtual pets"? Before anyone jumps the gun, no I have no desire to rip-off the tamagotchi trademark. In fact i am creating my own virtual pet game for the Atari 2600 to show my love for tama's. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Well, someone else completely copied the code from Tama-go's FLASH and made a simulator on the PC.

For the Tamagotchi P's it uses a FLASH chip similar to the NAND chip but much slower to store the data. Basically those codes are in hex and the graphics are all made up of png files.
