Hello!

I got a Tamagotchi Friends today as a present from my boyfriend...needless to say I had to give it a try! I quite like it so far, it was a sweet present. There's just one thing concerning me....the sound appears to be rubbish. It's quieter than any of the other Tamagotchi releases I've ever had. The higher-pitched sounds (like the little theme that plays when you start up a game, for example) are also quite harsh compared to the lower-pitched sounds.

Is this just a "Tamagotchi Friends problem" like dim screens, paint that rubs off, and other things that people have been noticing, or is there something wrong with mine? If it's my Tamagotchi being weird, is there any way I could fix it?

Thank you!

P. S. I tried using two different brands of batteries in it, both sets were new. No changes in the sound.

Yeah the TF's quality is crap... the sound, the paint, the features...

Well, remember one thing, the connection has a much smaller shell and the Tamagotchi Friends has a much bigger one, just like the Tama-Go. You see, sound vibrates, the larger the shell is, the more difficult for sound to leave the shell and transfer around, and depending on the material, in this case plastic sound could change. The better the vibration is, the better the quality of the sound.

(Sorry if most of what I said doesn't make sense :( )

Yes, derekq, I see what you're saying... a thicker plastic shell with the same little "speaker" as the connection recessed into the shell would indeed make for a more muffled sound.

And Hayden, that puts it into perspective XD It's honestly not at all bad features-wise to me, probably since I remember the days when said "features" were the mealtime option and 1 game :p Glad to know that my TF is normal though :)

Thank you guys!

I thought it was depending on which shell you got. The sound on my blue dalmatian shell was fine, maybe a little quiet, the sound on my white leopard print one grinds my nerves it's so awful.

Wow. Sounds like they're terribly inconsistent then. I remember the old V3 being somewhat like that. I had one you could barely hear and another that was screechy.

I just keep the sound off most of the time now because it really is grating. Still a great little Tama to carry around in my purse though :)
