They're both Version 2, I believe. There's a chance they could be Version 1 though; the only way to tell without putting batteries in is by the shell design. Version 2 had fancier designs than version 1 so I'm gonna guess they're Version 2.

I've seen the one on the right before but not the one on the left.

 
I've never seen the one on the left before, though it is likely to be a V2 as that same design is available in green, red & light blue (and these are V2s). The one on the right is actually a Version 1 Connection. Toys r us exclusive as Hayden mentioned.

Wow, I didn't expect the red and black one to be limited edition! That's really cool.

I think you're right, the purple one must be a must be a V2. It looks just like the others. Strange that it isn't on the list on that link :huh:
