Hey all,

I just bought a purple gem Tamagotchi Friends, and so far I am really disappointed with it. The sounds are weird compared to the other versions, (the press tones are fuzzy sounding) Does it get better as you play with it? I have a V3, and it is still much more appealing. I just feel like I wasted twenty dollars, and I could've gotten one of those red-pixel ones off of ebay for about the same price.

Since it is a Tamagotchi, it can be pretty fun to play with, but the toy itself is a just plastic rip-off of the IDL design, and it's also really easy to get perfect care characters, so it will be hard to get other characters unless you follow a method. it's mostly like the Tama-go except that it's smaller, and it does not have a figure feature. And the sound is a piece of crap..I feel you, and the screen is sunk in a little for some reason.

I haven't had a tama since the original. I think the friends are fun, personally, but i am way in the dark about a lot of tama stuff that i have missed. I have 4 friends running right now. I am enjoying them.

There are many things to like and dislike about this version, I do like the design, it is based off of the Japanese id L, but I do like the iD L's a lot.

I don't like that logo is now pink, making TMGC targeted toward more girls than boys, also the fact it is in the girl's section in stores.

The button reaction when playing games seems to be a little more lax than the Japanese Tamagotchi's and older American versions that I'm used to. It's really hard to play the games without sound(Might just be me though)

It is bigger than the 4U, which also has a flat back and the Tamagotchi is way more intricate than the Friends version.

I don't like where the battery placement is to get the batteries in and out, although it's more or less the plate covering it rather than the location of it.

It's hard to get certain characters (I've grown several generations most of the females where Cofferetchi's)

I do like the Collectible Crown, Rings and Necklaces, though I feel that other things could be as collectibles rather than a bunch of gaudy jewelry.

I do like the new features such as the NFC, it seems like Tamagotchi is catching up with the times.

The Character pixelations are very detailed.

They have introduced several characters to North America, South America, Europe and Russia from the Japanese version. (They still have yet to release Meloditchi in America)

It's a new Tamagotchi, we should be happy that Bandai is still trying to keep the product line going. Hopefully the world will get what Japan has.

They have Dream Town, which is an equivalent of the V3 - V5.5 TamaTown's (Music City was way better and was well loved)

There are several good points and several bad points to the new Tamagotchi Friends, but I think there's always room for improvement and bandai has done it before. They have made versions in color, like the more recent 4U's and the beginning TMGC +Color. They've made smaller versions that are easily transportable, like the Tamagotchi Nano. They've made 2 versions that were compatible with an online community where you could interact with other Tama Fans, Music City. and they also have been keeping the Craze going since '96. even though it goes in spurts where it is extremely popular and then all of a sudden it's unheard of. We just need to support the Version and ask for marketing towards neutral gender, that way they have the whole market to sell to, not just half of the market. I hope they do change some things, but all I really want is for them to continue making Tamagotchi's because at the end of the day it doesn't matter, to me, if it's in the girl section and I, and 18 year old boy, goes to that section and buys every product.

Purimatchi, thanks for taking the time to type all of that! I think I am going to keep it. And just wondering, does anyone know what the difference between the three eggs is?

I can't remember which is which but I temember it being posted that one egg gives you boy/girl/boy/girl* on generations, one is 3 boys/3 girls* and one is random.

*Its random as to whether you start the sequence with a boy or girl.

I hear you, Richie99922. I am a collector, and from what I've heard others say about this version, I'm not going to waste my money on one. I think I'll get another Entama instead. I got a Tama Go when they were all the rage a couple of years ago, and wasn't too impressed with that one.

Really Bandai?! Japan has had color Tamagotchi for quite a few years now. I feel like them giving TF the same iDL look was them just trolling us. I did purchase one but I regret it now. I can't even play the games because of the poor button reaction time. I taken out the batteries for now. I also hate how the battery compartment is set up. In most articles I read about these people seemed to question why they are using the non color screens and calling it outdated. Most of those people don't even know about the latest tamagotchis is Japan. I stick with my tamagotchi that are in color.

^^I think the same. I just got 2 blue 4U s recently, and I love them. However, in Japan, there is a much broader fan base than in the rest of the world. Bandai dosen't want to "waste" its money on the West, and it's a different division of Bandai than in Japan. So the West gets the inferior products.
