There are no "unlockables" that I know of, games, clothing, and other features can be obtained by using an IR port.

You can unlock destinations and banners as you collect more TamaTomos, but not games.
Getting a TamaTomo means that you get all four of an adult-stage character's happy stamps by using their three favorite things, and then keeping them for 48 hours.
