I'd love to learn how to use Yahoo! Japan! but it seems like every time I read something, I get even more confused :( Can anyone on here help me?

I know that there has to be a middle-man to buy from it, how does shipping work? The shipping seems expencive, does it really cost $50 for some things? People keep saying that they get great deals on yahoo japan, but I'm confused about how they're doing that!

Someone help!! :p

Yes, there are great deals, but the fees and shipping make them not so great after all. :p

I use Rinkya. It's one of the best and easiest middle-man services, though kinda expensive. But it's only good for buying things that cost $10 or less. Because anything above $10 has astronomical fees. Like If you buy something for $11 it could be like $45 including fees.

When you buy something, it gets sent to the warehouse. Minimum fee is about $15 per thing you buy, which covers the shipping for the Japanese seller to send to the middle-man's warehouse. You can keep things in storage for up to 60 days, so you have up to two months to buy things from the site for a shipment. It's good to buy multiple things within those 60 days to make the shipping worth it.

When you are ready to ship all your items, the shipping cost depends on weight and size of the box. My first Rinkya shipment was almost $80 for EMS and my second Rinkya shipment was $50 for SAL. But I bought lots and lots of stuff and the box was really huge and heavy. So if you buy lighter things and buy less than what I bought, the shipping shouldn't be so astronomical. I've heard people pay $30 EMS for a shipment of a few in-package Tamagotchis.

Unless the things you want to buy are ONLY available on Yahoo Japan, it's best to use eBay. Yahoo Japan and middleman services aren't as cheap as people make it out to be.

Ok, so let me see if I got this right! you can only spend up to $10 per item, if you don't want too crazy of shipping. but you can buy multiple things that if added up they could be say $11 and it'd still cost $15 for shipping per item plus the original price? Does that mean that the crazy shipping prices you see on the yahoo site itself are irrelevant? and one more thing, if you buy multiple items from the same seller, is it still $15 per item? Or $15 for the lot they send to the middle-man?

Thanks so much for the help by the way, this means a lot!

Well, things that cost over 1000 Yen (about $10) have a fee of $15 for shipping and a $20 fee for using the service, lol. But items 1000 Yen or less just have the $15 shipping fee and no service fee. Here's a price calculator, scroll down this page until you see the calculator and type a price in the top box (Don't worry about the internal bid box and international shipping). https://www.rinkya.com/en/front/page/fees

The international shipping is just what you pay to get your items sent to you and you won't find out the price until you request a shipment.

I'm pretty sure the Yahoo Japan shipping prices are irrelevant, 'cause I've never had to pay more than $15 warehouse shipping per item.

If you buy multiple things from the same seller within the same 24 hours you only have to pay $15 once. But you have to make sure to buy the things within the same 24 hours, or that the auctions all end within 24 hours of eachoer. :)

WARNING: Some sellers on Rinkya, like certain Tamagotchi Gashapon sellers, don't like you to use middleman services. In this case, the Rinkya staff will ask if they can try to get it for you with a different method. If they ask this, say no! Because then you'll have to pay the extra $20 fee even if the item costs less than $10.

You, my dear are a lifesaver! Thank you so much for helping me out, I'd like to use Yahoo Japan at sometime in the future, I'll be sure to remember you when I place my first order! Thanks a billion!
