God, I am so clueless >.<

I was wondering - if you need to change the battery on your tamagotchi, will changing the battery restart it? Will you lose your progress?

 
The 'newer' ones (2004 onwards) have a download option so you don't lose progress on them.

 
That's an excellent question- one I was wondering myself since I'll be getting my first non-V1 Tama (ID L!) some time this week, and from what I hear the batteries with regular use only last about a month or two.

You don't need an app to download your tama, it's a built in feature. When you put a new battery in and press the B button you will get and option to download or reset your tamagotchi.
