Title says it all. Trying to get a shiny Zangoose, but I have had over 100 encounters (too many to count lol) and nothing happened. The only shiny I ever got was a Cacnea on Route 111 just at random. I kept encountering the Cacnea and running away until I found another Cacnea (after 8-20 encounters, I think, without DexNav active), which had its shiny color scheme. That was the only shiny I received.

Tried doing a shiny Trapinch on Route 111 (the same place where my shiny Cacnea popped up), it was harder because the Trapinch kept popping up and going back down every which way and I had to wait until it was close enough for me to get its attention (using DexNav of course, and all of them were regular Trapinch). So I gave up and now I'm doing the shiny Zangoose.

Good luck! I was gonna try chaining with the dexnav, but my 3ds stopped working the day after I finished my national dex, so I haven't gotten a chance to try yet.

Gonna have to do it all over again, cause I broke the chain by scaring it off.

And you should try it if you're up for a stress filled challenge. XD

The problem is that you run away, when DexNav chaining you must either defeat or capture the pokemons you run into or the chain will break. Use a repel because if you run into an encounter not triggered by the dexnav the chain is broken. Other that that, arm yourself with patience and may luck be on your side :)

Or you could just use the TSV method and get a ton of shiny, flawless, competitive pokemons :)

Ohhh...well then, I was doing it wrong all this time...wow.

Yup, you were. But even by doing it the right way it can still take some time...some people found their shiny after a chain of 10, while others had to go through a chain of 200, depends on your luck. Of course having the shiny charm helps a lot :)

I've been trying for a shiny ralts for ages now. I've pretty much given up :( I find it's far easier to get a shiny in the friend safari in X/Y.

True, the Friend Safari yields a higher shiny chance if you have met the respective friend online, playing Pokemon (ORAS or XY, doesn't matter) at least once. You know you did because you see the player icon in the friend safari of that friend, and you can catch three pokemons from it.

Hordes are also good, found a lot of shinies that way.

But the TSV method is the best by far, guaranteed shiny with perfect IVs and nature, without cheating :)

@Skrillex: which pokemons you miss in your pokedex? I can give you a hand to complete it so you'll get your shiny charm too :)

Pretty much every single Pokemon besides the ones I have found and/or caught.

Well if there is something rare/unobtainable in the games you have tell me, I have completed my pokedex so I may still have it :)

Isn't the Shiny Charm part of the Key Items? Or is it just an Item? Because I was hoping if you'd could make one of your Pokemon hold it (if you have that charm) and we trade, then I take the charm from the Pokemon that held it and give the Pokemon back. lol

It is a key item indeed so it cannot be traded, the only way to have it is by completing the national dex. Event pokemons are not required to get the shiny charm so it's not that big of a challenge :)
