Alright, so my little story sounds like something that would be out of a science-fiction movie.

Yesterday me and my parents decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a bit early, and my mom got me an American Tamagotchi Friends. Now there were a few changes between the two (If you guys want I'll show pictures) but my mom offered the idea of letting both Tamagotchis play with each other. However, my foreign Tamagotchi Friends (my first one) had a blank screen, and had been like that for a while. This morning I got it back out, changed the batteries with my stepdad (since the ones inside it were corroded), got the Download/Reset menu, clicked Download...

...and was greeted to a Christmasy setup in Merry's room. (Yes, her name is Merry. She's a 1 year old Petithanatchi as of this writing.) The date? December 16th, 2015. The time? When I checked it was 9:00 AM, and now it's around 9:11 AM.

I look again as I'm writing this and there's a white line across a part of my screen and the entire screen has frozen...

Do I need to do a Reset on my game to get it back to normal? Have any of you had something like this?

Let me know in the comments!

(PS. My new Tamagotchi works just fine right now, and her name is Renae. <3)

Your tamagotchi device might be like that forever, it is known that corroded batteries damage the devices they are in :( , so next time try removing the batteries when you are not using something :)

Before doing anything else, try cleaning the battery port. Tamagotchis are known for being glitchy with battery issues. Corrosion leads the connection of the battery to the Tamagotchi to be unstable. My P's will not turn on at times because the corrosion prevents the batteries from being completely connected to the Tamagotchi.

Next, you said you were greeted by a Merry Christmas wallpaper. Did you leave it off around that time? The Tamagotchi doesn't set the time by itself, unlike modern smartphones. You have to re-set your time manually. You can do that by going to the clock screen and presing A+C.

(Oh, to clean the corrosion, simply grab some rubbing alcohol and dip a Q-tip in it. Start rubbing the corroded metal parts and it should come off.)

Thanks for the posts, guys. I had left it alone for a while and it did turn off around December, I think, so I think it must've saved when it turned off.

But I did reset the Tamagotchi and it's a happy little bouncing Terupotchi right now that I named Maria. (I also made a little story in my head connecting Renae and Maria; They're buddies now on both Tamas 8D)

I should also mention when I was out bowling with a friend and his family earlier today it gave me the low battery screen, but all I did was take off and put the cover back on and now it's working just fine.

Things appear to be just fine though for the time being~ Thanks for the help! <33
