I just got my first deco pierce in the mial, the Tama Circus one, and there are a couple foods that come with it at the Tama Cafe. I fed one of these circus foods to my Doyatchi, and it gave him a puzzle piece. Clearly, these aren't on the list for his favorite things. Is this normal?

 
I think it might be normal. On my iD L I recently downloaded some new food and items. When I went to the restaurant to try out some of the new food, my tama got a happy stamp! (Even though it wasn't his favorite.) I think the Pierces on the P's have a similar effect to downloads on the iD L. (I don't know why they get a happy stamp/puzzle piece, they just do.)

 
I think that is intentional :] Items on pierces will still give puzzle pieces too. I got a stamp for Furifuritchi while eating a Yumemiru pierce item.
