I have a Tamagotchi P, and I currently have Kiraritchi with 3 out of 4 puzzle pieces. After the fourth, I would like to raise another Tamagotchi. This is where I am lost:

  • Is there a way to "reset"/raise a new Tamagotchi, while saving the items and progress that I've made in the past? [i assume yes, because of the diary function.] How?
I understand that pressing the button on the back will reset my Tamagotchi entirely, but that's not what I want--as I wish to save my progress. I merely just want to raise another Tamagotchi.
  • I understand that Kiraritchi can get married and produce a child. Does the mother and father have any influence on the gender of the child?
In the case that I am not satisfied with the gender of my Tamagotchi, knowing how to "reset" would be useful.
  • I will be using a Deco Pierce in the future. Once I install a Deco Pierce, will Kiraritchi disappear? Once I install the Deco Pierce, will any of my previous progress be overwritten? Or is the data pertaining to a specific Deco Pierce stored within the Deco Pierce? [in other words, Tamagotchi P is a console system for Deco Pierce.]
I absolutely could not find any thorough answer regarding these topics. An elaborate response would be sincerely appreciated.

After your tama has gained the last puzzle piece you can have it get married and then a new generation will begin (this is the only kind of "reset" in which you can save all your progress). The gender of the child is always random. If you don't like the gender of the child, you will either have to do a full reset (losing all your data) or just wait till the next generation and hope for a child of a different gender. A Deco Pierce is, in a way, like DLC (Downloadable Content) for your Tamagotchi. Nothing will be deleted, just added. However, when you remove the Deco Pierce all of the things the Deco Pierce gave you will go away (until you put it on again).

Hello, thank you so much for your great response! I had forgotten to mention one more question that I have:

If my Tamagotchi dies, do I have to do a full reset and lose all of my progress, or is there another way to obtain another egg after death without erasing my progress?

When your tamagotchi dies, you press A + C (first and third button) to hatch another egg.
