My birthday is coming up rather quickly and I am interested in getting a modern Tamagotchi. I looked at the 4U and P's but the latter is too old for my taste, since it came out in 2012.

Honestly, I'd rather have a newer one and, since the 4U+ is the most recent iteration, not to mention an upgrade to the 4U, it seems to be the best choice.

Is there a lot of reading to be had with this virtual pet?

I don't know a lick of Japanese.

I don't know japanese either. I just got my 4u+ march 30th and from then on everything was pretty ez to figure out. I'm enjoying it a lot so you should go for it c: though i did look at guides so i would know where things were in the icons but that was quick and took nothing but 5 mins to look at xp

Thank you. I read that your character can go to shops and stuff, which is what I'm most worried about, as there could be more reading involved there.

If u buy something under the japanese is a picture of the item so you know what it looks like o:

Thank you. I hope they're fun -- I have quite a few of the '96-97 Giga Pets, and love them, so I want this one to be fun too because they're expensive.

I got the 4u plus for my birthday. Its my first japanese tama. I was nervous about the language barrier but it took hardly any time at all to get used to it. Its pretty simple and there are a ton of guides online to help you understand whats going on. You might want to see if your phone is capable of nfc connections with it as well if you want the downloads from mr blinkys app.

I am in the same boat as you. I am planning on rewarding myself for all my hard work over the past couple years and I want to buy a new Tama to add to my already enormous collection. I really want a color one and since there are no color Tamagotchis available in English, I'm considering between the 4U+ or the ID L. I too am nervous about it being only in Japanese, but everyone Ive talked to says it's simple to figure out with all the readily available guides. Still I can't help but be a little apprehensive. I've pretty much decided to buy one, and I am currently looking at a seller on Amazon that allows for a money back return. Return shipping will need to be paid of course, but at least I won't be out all of the money in case it just doesn't work out. But until Banzai gets with the program and decides to start releasing them in the USA again, it's our only option if you want it bad enough. And I do!

Good luck my friend, and let us know how it works out for you!
