Tamagotchi CD ROM help?

I know, this game is ANNNNNNNNNNCIENT, but I recently rediscovered it and installed it on my '98 Virtual PC for old time's sake. (I'm using it to fill my need for tamagotchi until I can find an actual physical one, which is proving to be harder than expected lol.)

Anyway, sometimes the Tamagotchi will just start crying out for whatever reason, and he'll continue this for about 2-3 seconds before quitting. I always check his stats when he does this but I keep all his hearts full as well as his belly, so I don't know if this is actually just an animation he does randomly, or if there's something I need to be doing when he does it. This doesn't seem to be an instance where I need to scold him, because the title bar flashes when that happens, so I'm not sure what's up.

Does anyone know/remember what's going on when this happens?

Maybe it's just a thing he does because he's a baby? Babies cry, so that makes sense. I've heard something about it a long time ago, but I can't seem to remember.

After he grew to the next stage, this animation got replaced with one where he is doing backflips at inhuman speeds while making a sound that is like 'WHOOHOO!!!" So either this is an alternative idle animation, or one that actually means he's happy.

I guess it's really been far too long since anyone has played this, haha. Thanks for responding anyway.
