4U+ and Bumping

Yesterday I recieved my 4U+ in the post, yay! I've been doing some reading up on it and was looking at how to obtain Lovesolatchi and Candy Pakupaku; it says the 4U+ requires 'bumping', which can be done without actually connecting to the app on a phone. I have an Xperia Z3 compact, which is compatible with the 4U App (I have already downloaded half a dozen things onto the Tamagotchi), so I know it should, in theory, work.

How do you know when you have sucessfully 'bumped'? Is there an animation on the Tama or anything? I keep the NFC on my phone turned on and the screen on my Tama, or do I need to select something from the connection menu to 'bump'? Other than Lovesolatchi and Candy Pakupaku, what else can I unlock from 'bumping'? Also, how do I know when I have successfully unlocked Lovesolatchi and Candy Pakupaku?

Ra (of tamazone) has a 4U+ review/insights video on youtube and near the end he shows random NFC bumps and talks though things like that, that may be helpful
