I'm ninteen, so I'm in college, but during the summer I work 9-5. I love taking care of my tamas, playing with them in the evenings, and watching the generations grow. But I'm also very busy, and hide my tamagotchi use from my peers and family (embarrassing).

Any one else in this position? How do you find time to take care of your tamas? I hate putting them on pause all day, b/c that means they will grow half as fast, and I do get bored if they don't change frequently.

Wanted to open for discussion :)

I actually have them on my desk at work, hidden under papers or stuff and sound off, and check them from time to time. In case I need to spend some time playing I hide in the bathroom lol

This works because they are vintage tamas and are quite small. Not sure with bigger ones, though.

I am a masters student and most of my time is home or in a biochem research lab so I totally get how you feel, I prefer not to pause them as it stunts their growth so I change the clock so they are sleeping while I'm working so that they will age normally. I also bring one or 2 depending on their neediness level or how busy I know my day will be or how absent minded i will be and I turn the sound off and have them chill out in my drawer and i check in on them every once in a while. Usually I only bring my colours to the lab as my V2 (connection) is just too needy for me to do this well with it. I did this with my v4.5 and it worked out alright... although in the summer with the lab empty i have been keeping the sound on and it's just loud enough that I can hear it if im sitting at my computer... Put yeah so far it works for my princess spacy (20 generations strong since I got it and Ive been running it non stop and we have had no deaths)

I find that the 4U is great for this. One of the least demanding tamas I've ever owned. If you don't have work or school you'll probably find the tama boring because it doesn't ask very much of you in terms of care! It also has the babysitter option for when you're at work/school. :)

Thanks for this topic! I know very little about the 4U and how to pause it, but a babysitter option sounds wonderful. Like others have said, I have older tamas (v3 and v6) running, and usually I'll change the clock so they'll go to sleep, and I'll do whatever I have to do, then come back home and set the clocks so they'll wake up. If my errands are brief, I'll pause them, but I prefer to readjust the clocks so they'll simply go to sleep. Fortunately, I've found the tamas I'm running to be pretty easy to care for, which is also helpful.

Oh, one more thought, have you considered running a very simple tama, such as a Nano? I've heard that a Nano is very simplified, yet still offers a couple care features. I'm considering purchasing a Nano in another month or so, just for purposes of comparison with my other, more complex tamas.

There is also the chibi (mini) and the tama chous both are very very simple to run the chibi really all you do is feed it when it beeps at you and its a good little clock, the tama chous require no care except for connections between each other they are really cute and adorable

I've been bringing them at work but for the most part I am running the more recent versions which are equipped with either the school/daycare (P's) or babysitter (4U).

When I was running the iD L or the Angelgotchi they were fine because they're not very demanding... except for the baby stage so I usually wait until I get home if I'm thinking of moving to the next generation.

Wow, I had no idea these new versions had babysitter features! How interesting! I'm still running v3-v6 from back in the day. Since it dropped out of the American mainstream I didn't realize just how many new versions were released.

Sometimes I do change the time so that my tamagotchi is asleep while I'm at work - other times I forget to before I go into the office, and end up pausing him quickly half way through the day.

I have considered running a low care tamagotchi, but during the times I do want to play with it a lot (on the bus, while babysitting when kids go to bed), it ends up being TOO boring. I might try it, but for now I have a generational goal with my v4.5 that I'm trying to meet (at least 10 generations).

I prefer to reset the clocks on my Tamas rather than pause them. I actually just ordered a Tama Chibi to run along with my regular tamas. I have a Giga pets Floppy Frog also on the way, but I might keep it in the package and set it away for nostalgia. Not decided for sure on the frog pet.

I think when I still had school, I either paused them or muted them but still took them to school? More likely paused since I don't remember them dying on me during that. I remember that back in middle school, some kids thought I had a cell phone, which is something I still don't have. It's probably because I hid the Tamagotchi in my purse and they couldn't tell what I was doing.

When I was in high school and college I had them on silent and on a lanyard round my neck or just in my pocket. I'd have 2-5 connections running at a time so it was pretty obvious I had them. I think personally I'm very lucky that although I wasn't ever popular at school, I was well known and had a lot of friends so I never had any issues from peers, if for some reason I did I knew there would always be someone nearby who would stick up for me, but nothing ever happened so I was fine c: I remember in another thread I spoke about college, but when you get to that age and have them on show everyones just really fascinated and wants to play with them and they talk about theirs, I shockingly made a lot more friends at college because it was an ice breaker and people just stop you in the corridors to ask about them :D The only person at college who gave me hassle was one of my art teachers who said they were fine to have out but she'd always make snide remarks about them being babies toys and how I need to grow up, lmao.

I now work full time as an apprentice hairdresser, if I worked in an office or something I'd try risking it but hairdressers are notoriously cattier places to work and it's very difficult to hide them in that sort of environment, I tried once with my V5, I kept it in a coin pouch instead of my Alpacasso one so it was a lot more inconspicuous but I had to carry it everywhere because no matter where I'd have it other employees can get to it and I couldn't risk it.

For just under 2 months I had it set so it woke up when I got back from work and would be awake throughout the night so I'd be tending to it half asleep :p This was just irritating and it meant I also wasn't looking after it properly and it just started to feel like a chore, which isn't what I want tamas to be.

I've had my V5 on pause for about 3 weeks now just because I've been too busy for it altogether, if I could take it into work though I'd have it running full time

I take online school courses and I'm a homebody, so I have a lot of free time to take care of my Tamagotchis without them becoming a inconvenience. Whenever I do pause them is when they're at a needier stage and I'm busy with something else (usually watching a movie).
