so... If I made friends on the highest red level with Kikitchi and Lovelitchi, will the red level with them pass onto the next generation or will I have to do the entire process over and over again? not that I mind it but there might be days when I'm too busy to bus my chara over to locations 600 times a day...

Unfortunately you will have to start over again in the next gen. Although the parent will be featured in the friendship book with their friendship bar being completely purple. Otherwise no one will be in the friendship book once you move on to the next gen.
