I have eyed the M!X down since its release because I found the concept of being able to create unique generations was extremely interesting and appealing. I feel like I wouldn't get bored of it as much.

Out of the two versions, Melody and Spacy, I'd be looking at the Melody. I know that these are a bit cheaper than the 20th Anniversary.

But then I really want the 20th Anniversary M!X ...There's more characters (my favourites, Kuromametchi, Makiko and Mimitchi are in there) and the return of the Red and Ura Tamas. It's just that I live in New Zealand, so it'll probably cost at least $70-$80 for a Melody and $75-$100 for a 20th Anniversary (Pink would go for the lower end, White would be $80+). I've only looked on eBay so far.

I just want to know what the differences are between the two versions, other than the fact that there's more characters. Are there different items, places/towns and so forth? Thank you!

There are different towns on the Anniversary mix. Also, if you get a melody or spacey you'll need to get 2 because you need multiple units to unlock all of the towns. So, if you only want to buy one you'll need to get the anniversary because you can unlock everything with just one unit.

I would get all versions myself, and I do have the Spacy and Melody (got them for Christmas). I'm getting the white Anniversary edition, and the Sanrio edition when it comes out. I want to experience all the towns and other places available.

Oh really?! Having to connect with another Melody/Spacy to unlock places :/

It's a shame that they're quite expensive for me...so I'll be having to look out for a relatively cheap 20th M!X--preferably the white one

For both the Melody and Spacy m!xes you need to connect to three other units (or unique M!x stations found in Japan) to unlock Mermaid Palace. There's a workaround where you reset the other Tamagotchi m!x unit you have a couple of times after connecting, but that only unlocks Mermaid Palace for one unit (if you have two).

If you're getting one of each (Melody, Spacy, 20th anniv and Sanrio), you can unlock Mermaid Palace with ease.
