My tama m!x is coming in the mail soon, but I do want to be able to show it to my friends. I don't know what my friends think of tamagotchis though, I don't want to be laughed at, so I am trying to figure out how to show it to them. I told my older sister about me getting a tamagotchi and she said "What's a tam-a- potchi?" And the I told her what a tam-a-Gotchi is and she asked why I would waste my money on a thing like that. Anyways, thanks if you view or reply!

I know, my family kind of does the same thing. My closest friends kind of discovered my connections accidentally and they tease me sometimes, but they're not mean about it. I guess it really depends on your friends and how close you are with them. You could pretend to remember tamagotchi from your childhood and say, "Hey! Remember tamagotchi?" just to see if they know what they are or whatever. I hope this helps and good luck!

Do understand that Tamagotchis are generally slowly dying out. The people that I know who used to have a Tamagotchi (in fact, they were the ones that introduced me to them in the first place) have long abandoned them. Even my parents make a comment about my love for Tamagotchis because they think it's a childish toy. I'll admit, I won't be one to proudly state that I still play with Tamagotchis to the public. They're more of a guilty pleasure for me that only close people that I trust know about.

Ask them if they know what Tamagotchis are. They might have heard of it since it was a huge craze 10+ years ago, and then slowly tell them the background information about Tamas

I was really into tamagotchi's about 6 years ago (and it was weird for a person of my age then to play with tamagotchi's) and I recently found my old connections and p1. I have started them up and I wanted to buy a tamagotchi p to play with. When I told my best friend (she knows that I used to be obsessed with them but that was before we knew each other) I sent her a text telling her that I had no impulse control because I spent a crazy amount of money on a tamagotchi that I didn't need. When she asked why I told her that I hatched my old tamas and I got nostalgic and I wanted to see how the new tamas compared. Then I changed the subject. she didn't think it was weird at all because she gets nostalgic too about stuff from her early teens.

I told my mum about my new purchase because she saw me looking at old Nokia phones (I want to patch my tama p to English) and she asked why. I told her I bought a tamagotchi and to change it to English I need a device with infrared. I used the same nostalgia excuse and she just shook her head. I don't think she really minds too much. It's not that big of a deal to anyone I know. my sister can be a little judgemental but thats about it.

I know that it's odd. And I'm not about to take them out in public! but I have no issues using them around my friends and family. extended family is a bit different. but most of them have little children so I usually use them with the children as a way of getting them involved and not looking too weird. and my cousins even had the original tamagotchis themselves so they like to see my tamagotchi's for nostalgia too.

I wouldn't use them in front of family friends because I'm not that close to any of them and they have a really mean sense of humour and think it's funny to joke about anything odd.

I guess you've got to assess the situation. would they really care too much? would they be curious and want to play with one? would they laugh about it? maybe you could take some tips from the people who've answered this already and ask if they remember tamagotchi's and maybe do what I did and say you got it for nostalgia?

good luck and I'm sure it won't be a big deal at all!
