Sorry for the sad question; I know some Tamagotchis 'die' and other ones 'leave' but in 20 years I've never seen it actually happen! All I have seen is the final screen with the angel/spaceship/grave etc.

So has anyone caught their Tamagotchi in time to see it leave or pass away? What happens? I'm really curious lol! :p

There are plenty of videos uploaded on youtube; try searching Tamagotchi death sequence (or Tamagotchi leaving) and you can choose which ones you want to watch (although "leaving" sequences will also include the moments when an adult leaves it's baby at midnight so that the next new generation can begin).

in tamagotchi on the gameboy the screen flickers then your tamagotchi turns into an angel and floats around the screen till you press A.

 
I've only caught it once--the dying Tama. It looked sad, there was a skull in the corner that I couldn't get rid of, it refused meds, discipline, and made long beeps. I just let it go. It was an Ancestor tama, either a p1 or p2, I don't remember now which one; it's been so long.
