Grav3yardgirl's face and hands framed the youtube video as she talked about the 20th anniversary Tamagotchi and how nostalgic for the 90's she'd been recently (Minus the debacle about e-bay 'mystery box' debacle), she tried to get her camera to focus on the small Tamagotchi on her screen.

A quick internet search found 1. people were really genuinely interested in the 20th anniversary Tamagotchi and 2. were subsequently disappointed in the thing.

Intrigued, I scrounged around for one of my old connection v3 Tamagotchi's and fresh 2032 batteries. I also play Pokemon Go, so having 2032 batteries on hand for the Go Plus are handy. Plus, there was a deal at Sam's Club that one day my Plus died. After I inserted the battery a small screech came through the speakers and an egg bobbled on the screen. Pressing A allowed me to see that I could download my prior Tamagotchi or start over. I decided on a fresh start.

Within minutes I had a baby girl on my screen. I named her Kat, though I called her Egg Daughter in my head. She was very active, bobbing here and there, I must have had it muted because I came back and she was sick and a pile of 2 poops greeted my screen. I cleaned it and fed her. She graduated to child, a middle-range childhood. I googled evolution charts for the v3, I found the old communities, dusty with age, and broken links.

The next morning, I had a final, so I muted the egg and continued to school. An acquaintance at school asked about it, exclaiming about the nostalgia factor.

She grew up to a kuropatchi by wednesday and made it easier to care for her. Good, because I had two finals, an essay and a few homework assignments to finish in two days. Saturday I went to a mall and completely forgot Egg Daughter at home. I was suddenly a Bad Egg Parent.

But she lived.

I bought items from the shop, found out she liked fries from the internet, and the animation was so cute!

She grew up and lived a productive life. She hung out with a sheep-looking Tama and had a baby, a boy, who I am taking care of to this day. Just in time for my amazon order to arrive in the mail.

I have had some ups and downs, even with him (named Cecil-- even if I wanted to name him after Karkat, stupid five letter limit). I started the new blue one at the same time as Cecil's birth. Once I got the hang of the 20th anniversary one, I immediately hated the simplcity, prefering my v3 with the minigames and shop.

The other day, I gave Cecil an ACTION FIGURE to play with, he exclaimed and talked to it for a whole two minutes--just in time for him to fall asleep with it. It sat up in the top corner of the screen. SO ADORABLE.

Then just yesterday I saw him singing to himself. So adorable.

So he's asleep with his ACTION FIGURE even though I don't remember him playing with it. The 20th edition is also asleep the hour after.

I have been perusing the internet, looking at dead links from 2007 to 2009 thinking about how FAST the internet moves today, because it was only 10 years ago that all these things existed, and now Tamatown is gone, and my Tamas will never have the luxury of playing there. The ticket still shows up in the shop and I sigh thinking about it. I also think about how, I was in my 20's playing with Tamagotchis like I was 12.

Bandai doesn't seem that interested in their Tamagotchi line, I guess us fringe 90's enthusiasts and collectors don't care. The 20th anniversary edition feels like just a ploy for nostalgic feels, even if it's 'dying'.

I wonder where my two other v3 Tamas are...

Today while chilling at home and just relaxing before a busy day, my kid in the v3 grew up to be a bunbuntchi! I googled it. Had to, I'm terrible with remembering their names. He's frigging adorable is what he is. More active than his mom. Still loves his action figures. I started playing with all the accessories: the WINGS, the DARTS, the DRUM, he still loves that ACTION FIGURE the most, though. It's so stupidly cute, I caught him actually brushing his teeth an hour before bed!

More of the same craziness today: Tried to get a bulging tire fixed, they wanted me to come in TOMORROW instead. I went to my aunts house. Had dinner (Caines... OMG so good!), did the car thing, wrapped presents, tried to finish the cookies by making a huge icing mess. It was great.

Ugh, If I weren't such a collector, I'd give this new tama to my cousin's kid. She's just the age to start taking care of a tamagotchi, though she's new gen so it's not as neat or nostalgic to her as it is for me. Plus, I like taking care of things. Still thinking of getting that P1 release.

I mean, the difference between my v3 and the echibi (is that what people are calling them?) is like night and day here. I just get so much more enjoyment, so much more... excitement out of it.

In two days the matchmaker will come for Cecil. I keep saying I'll never love the new generation as much as I love the previous generation if anything I think I love them more. Probably because I learned so much more.

Today was a busy day. I hung out at home, made breakfast, chilled out with my Tamas, then went to get my tire fixed. Read an entire book. Oops. >.> Oh well, that's what vacation is for, right?

I was sitting in a city 30 miles away to pick up my dad's mail only to realize that I left the key here at my house. I waited for people to do two raids in Pokemon Go since I was down there, feeding CECIL a bunch of junk to keep him happy, figuring I"ll play with him later. Nobody showed up to the raid.

So I came home and pretty much ate lunch and dinner.

Talking with other people on Discord made me go through my box of fandom junk and find my other v3 Tamagotchis. Finally, they are in my posession once again. I couldn't find my 2032 batteries so they are silent for right now. The 'nihongo' red and black one has both the keychain AND one of the pieces of plastic that kept it in place missing. Dang.

Shoot, forgot to send yesterday's log.

Today was frustrating. Dental work this morning, they fixed up my teeth. They numbed me but the numbing stuff started wearing off and once he started to dremmeling my enamel away I felt a sharp pain. So, they had to get the good stuff apparently and numb the whole jaw. Well, lived through that nightmare. My jaws started hurting, up by the point the muscle is connected to the skull. Such pain.

You didn't come to hear about that. You came for the Tamas, you fickle people! Allright, allright, the kids were fine, they're adults now and so they take less care. I did check to make sure they would be fine before going into the dentist so they wouldn't go off and bug me while I was getting my teeth worked on.

Well that torture over, I went to my aunts, chilled out, made sure everybody was happy. I did have my house-shaped screwdriver with me, just in case I came across a random 2032 to throw into my Starry v3 Tama but no luck. At any rate, I went to Dave and Busters which was a fun but mediocre for reasons unrelated to being at Dave and Busters.

And then I found my batteries. At home. Where I didn't place them. They must've fallen at the bottom of this bookshelf next to my desk. I debated putting in a fresh battery, but decided, oh well why not?

And so I now have a bouncing baby boy named CHARA because Charlie is too long to put in the five letter space. And everyone is going to think of Undertale when that's SO not the case. (Though my next boy is getting named SANS, end of story!)

On a side note, my small english 20th anniversary grew up tonight unexpectedly at dinner. Considering I got him at... (amazon, help!) nine days ago. I should look up the growth chart for this one and find out.

Today was an average day. It was so dark and gloomy I probably slept a good portion of it. Though I was interrupted by my Muslim neighbor dropping off some goat stew and some other things, then by the matchmaker showing up for CECIL.

She showed up with a mimichi which I should have taken, but didn't because I was just drifting off to sleep.

After I woke up, I took care of all three of them, then went to my dad's to pick up his mail. He's in the Philippines with his girlfriend he met through a dating site. Long story. Short story, I was just on the road for a good 15 minutes and the matchmaker came again. I stopped at a McDonalds for a coffee and to see who she brings. It was the guy with the alien anntennae. I should have chosen the mimichi before... bleh.

CHARLIE cried for attention and before I could PRAISE him, he fell asleep. Great. Not unlike the other night where I went to clean up his mess he falls asleep. That child is INCONVENIENT.

Today was a lazy day. I should leave my house, go spin a pokestop so I can get my daily bonus and the new incubator, but I can't be bugged to do so.

On the chill front, the matchmaker came again this time really late, like, only once today. SHe showed me a wooltchi and I was like, why not? So CECIL married this wooltchi and left him with the child. So the baby is a boy. And CECIL will leave me on Christmas. Wonderful.

I spent most of today remembering how the v3's connect. I forgot you have to hit B for them to recognize each other and start sending IR info. But now my tamas are best friends.Total dudebros. It's great.

I'm debating, once CECIL leaves if I should PAUSE that Tama so I can let them catch up together, as it is the generations are off by a couple days.

Today is Christmas and CECIL went to tamatown, which is sad because he went to nowheresville. I recorded the whole thing on video. Debating on if I should add a catchy copyright safe song to put to it as I said goodbye.

Meanwhile, I paused CHARLIE because I wanted them to catch up to each other and grow up together. And maybe a boy and a girl could happen at the same time and I can marry them off and it would be great, like the best arranged marriage generations before they were born. (I *might* give the matchmaker a chance, just once, before marrying them off... I don't want to seem TOO backwards.)

I have like three TURKEYs because they kept showing up in the store. My poor PAUSEd CHARLIE has CAKE that I want to get for Christmas. XD One will give cake to the other which will give turkey. Even my cat got turkey today because of the holiday. And I read A Christmas Carol by DIckens because I could. It felt horribly abridged, though.

I tried upoading a pic to tamatalk for my profile pic but everything is too large, I'm going to have to MSPaint the thing into appropriate pixel size. Generally it's just a picture of my current Tamas.

Well off to a late-night rendevous with family because... reasons? IDK New family tradition of showing up at my aunts after midnight mass (Which I don't go to) for egg nog and shrimp. But first, a shower.

CHARLIE is still on pause. I did unpause him to show my cousin what two v3's can do (eg, visit each other. I wish they had sung together instead of play with the ball), I explained about the 20th anniversary and thought about getting her one.

Still waiting on SANSY to grow up. I'm so impatient. Maybe he will when he wakes up.

Today was a restful day. SANS grew up into a Nikatchi simply because all his hearts were empty when I woke up to his beeping that he was growing up. :grrrrr:

So that happened. And I unpaused CHARLIE and they have been going back and forth with presents and visits and games ever since. :3

We went to dinner at my Aunt's friend's house. She's pretty cool, and chill, and when my kids were kind of beeping along (bored and hungry) I fed them.

"Okay everyone, now shut up." I said after caring for them.

My aunt was all, "haha, Look how you are with kids!"

And I"m all: "Yeah, this is why I"m not having kids!"

Tamagotchi's>kids any day, it's just not comparable.

Today, me and the kids went all the way to Wheeling, West Virginia. We went to the Wheeling Island casino (I snuck them in) and to Oglebay's to see the lights. It was an interesting ride.

Then, on the way home, I had just put one of my Tamas to sleep when all of a sudden I heard this long, high pitched beep. And so I had to call it: at 8:06PM this evening, Ojiisan passed away. My family was surprised that they can die.

I remember, back in the day, for a lot of youngins the death of a Tamagotchi was their first experience with death and grief. Having grown up with cats, and dogs, I've had to deal with the concept for years before some of my more sheltered peers.

Today was a long day. I'm glad it's over.

It wasn't even that I did a lot of things. I just waited.

And waited.

For six hours.

All because this:

I was so excited today. I was going to get out of the house, go up to this outdoor Town Center, walk around, ride a trolley, buy some christmas shwag. Look at the lights. XD

Well, I went out to the car and my car wouldn't start. Wouldn't even roll over even though the interior lights were on. Well, fudge. I'm going to point out that it's currently 10AM. So I call AAA to come out with a battery truck and try to fix my car. Oh, it'll be 3 hrs, she says on the phone. Fine, whatever, I can do whatever I want to once we get a new battery in the car.

So three hours goes by, then four, then five. I'm playing with SANS and CHARLIE who keeps on winning, making SANS feel bad.

I call them back.

"Oh," they say, "We're really backed up at the moment, you'll just have to wait."

"Can I get an ETA?"

"No, no, we don't know where you are in the queue.."

So I wait another hour, we're totalling up on six hours at this point. I call them back. Copy and paste last convo. Even my aunt calls them.

And in the seventh hour, they show up. I"m tired, bored, I could have been out doing things, or even having taken a nap. But no, I had to wait.

Then through some awkward conversation I hear this all too familliar beep, bloop noise that indicates someone's growing up. Based on the pitch, it's MARUI. SURPRISE!! She's the mametchi character. o_O Also sometime today CHARLIE grew up to be Pyonkotchi--discount pikachu. XD
