I've been reading a few logs and have decided that I would really like to buy a Colour Tamagotchi of some sort... I'm a bit clueless though as I've only ever owned Connection versions? So I have a few questions:

- Is it worth it?

- Do they still run on CR2032 Batteries?

- How many Colour versions are there and which would you recommend?

- Best places to buy?

- Is it crucial to know Japanese to run one? Because I don't speak a word...

Thanks in advance!

- Is it worth it?
I think so! As long as you don't pay an outrageous price for one, they can be very worth it. I'd recommend going to Ebay for colored tamas because there's normally some good deals there.

- Do they still run on CR2032 Batteries?
Nope. All of the colored tamas run on triple-A batteries.

- How many Colour versions are there and which would you recommend?
I believe there's been about 6 color releases. These would include the Plus color, iD, iD L, P's, 4U/4U+, and M!x (I don't think there's more, but I might be wrong). I'd personally recommend the P's because it has more characters and locations than anything before it. Also, it's happiness bar is easier to raise than any other colored version (the happiness bar is infuriating to fill on the other ones, imo). I've never used a Plus Color or 4U/4U+ though, so I can't say my opinion on these.

- Best places to buy?
Like I mentioned before, Ebay is a great place to buy colored tamas from. Another site I've heard great things about is Japanyouwant.com, but I can't personally vouch for them because I've never bought anything from them. :p

- Is it crucial to know Japanese to run one? Because I don't speak a word...
Nope! As long as you have a basic understanding of how Tamagotchis work, I don't see you having any problem using one. You do have a couple of options if you really want one in English. First, there's the Tamagotchi iD Le which is an English version of the iD L. However, I don't really recommend this one because it can be glitchy and it's also pretty expensive due to it's rarity. Another option would be to download Mr. Blinky's Tamagotchi P's English patch. Here's Mr. Blinky's official site if you want to look into it ;) : https://mrblinky.net/tama/ps/english/ All you should keep in mind for this is that you do need to have an old phone with infrared or an infrared adapter to plug into your computer. I recommend the old phone route because people seem to have an easier time with it over the adapter. Either one will work, but I've just heard that the phone is better. :p

EDIT: Added a color version that I forgot about. :p

I reccomend going for a P's, they do go for a bit but not too bad, and they're very worth it. They're good by themselves but if you get an old phone with IR you can have even more fun with it, thanks to the community contributions!

As for places to buy one, ebay is a good place but japanyouwant.com is good, they currently don't have any P's in stock currently but they might as well do soon. They might also have some iD L's and that's also a very fun version in my opinion, just can't be patched into english (though I don't consider that necessary) and doesn't have downloadable characters.

Give Japanese versions a try in general though, it's not just the color ones that are worthwhile! You can get the connections at a pretty good price and they're NOTHING like the English versions, they're fun in their own right. Entama isn't exactly a "V4 but Japanese", for example.

Thank you both so much for your help - I think I'll continue to use eBay for purchases and I'll check out the P's, I've also had a look at a M!x and they seem to be the most reasonably priced - and I'll also have to locate some Triple A batteries!

Thank you again for your help ^_^

I have a few different color versions and constantly find myself going back to the Mix because of the ability to quite literally mix characters when you marry them. I love seeing what the little tama baby is going to look like and which parent it will take after. It's what you always wished happened when you'd marry your older version connection tamas together. Or at least I did, haha. The P's is great, but you will want to purchase the little game peirces which are now quite hard to find. There are virtual downloads of them, which are awesome, but with me I am a collector and want all the little pieces that go with each version. Now don't get me wrong, because I have many of those downloads on my PC, but I find it hard to have to constantly go boot up the PC to swap out peirces etc. If you want to invest a little more, I know that you can use certain phones to do this to make it even easier. Cutiepiekawaii usually has a few decorated and fully loaded ones up on her store too. I also have a pair of 4U+. I've run them a few times and really love the shell design as it's smoother and lays flat instead of being rounded on the back.

Ahh thank you! I think I've decided to go for a M!x as my first one, as I roughly know how they work and then maybe start searching for a P's if I feel brave enough! Thanks so much for your reply ^_^
