I am looking for devices similar to Connection. Does anyone know of them, and where I can buy them?

I've been searching for this for a while.

Thanks in advance for any help!

My two main sources are JapanYouWant and Ebay.

JapanYouWant (JYW) deals mostly with Japanese versions, so if you're cool with that they usually have a pretty diverse selection for relatively decent prices.

You might be able to find a better deal on ebay, but the quality can vary pretty wildly.

As for something *LIKE* a connection, I'm sure most of the veterans here will be able to help you more than me since I've only been truly collecting for a few months, but there's lots of different Connection versions, so you might just want to try something like a V3.

A huge resource that's helped me has been the Tamagotchi Wiki and just checking out the different versions' growth charts to see what characters I like. If you like more old-school design like me, connections are great. If you're into the more 'cute' style of the new(ish) school, there's a whole mess of stuff in the last ~10 years to check out.

Hope this helped a little. What sorts of features are you looking for exactly?

Thanks for your help! I'll check those out.

I was mainly wanting to see if any other virtual pet devices have the infrared sensor, that work similarly, just out of curiosity. I've heard of some, but can't remember the name of the games!

All the connections use that sensor. Not sure what the compatibility is across them. Penguin Keeper might know about other Vpets that use 'em since she's a master of non-tama knowledge.

Other tamas use different forms of connection as well. Pretty sure the M!x uses NFC via a similar sensor bar on the top. Not sure about others since my big knowledge gap is everything between Connections and M!xes...

Hah, thankyou! :D But I've got a long, long way to go before I could be considered a master, I think!

Since I never liked the Tamagotchi Connexion line all that much, virtual pets that take cues from them and their sensibilities aren't something that I know a huge amount about, unfortunately (aside from the first iteration of Digimon, which could also just stand on its own, I don't find connectable virtual pets to be very fun or interesting). However, I do know of one line that might be relevant here.

So, kasichi, you might be interested in looking up a line called Power Palz. This was also sold under the names "Ani-Bip" and "Be-Bit", and probably some others that I'm not aware of, across Europe. As far as I know, they aren't region-locked, so it shouldn't matter where you get them from - they should still work together.

Power Palz featured various animals - I'm aware of a gorilla, rabbit, dog, cat, frog, and mouse - and you could use infra-red to connect them either to battle or marry. You could also cross-breed the various animal species. However, I don't know what the cross-breeds look like, or if they look different from their parents at all. That is to say, I don't know what the offspring of a gorilla and a frog looks like, or if you simply get another gorilla on the gorilla unit, and another frog on the frog one.

I learned about them from

This is the extent of my knowledge on non-Bandai virtual pets that took cues from the Tamagotchi Connexion line. I hope that it's useful! :)

I have a rabbit Power Palz! They're pretty fun. Mine came with a mascot, which was cute. I think there's a bigger one that serves as a "shop" of sorts as well.

As for connectable pets, Nana Moon is one of them. It's a cheap chinese pet, but too good to call it a knockoff of anything.

I love connection v3, but then again, it's the only tama I've ever had lol.

Thank you all for all the information! I've got a lot to go off of now!

:D

I saw an older post on here about an off brand Tamagotchi that had infrared, and the guy who posted it was actually able to connect it to a v3! Something like that really interests me. To be able to connect different brands like that sounds so amazing!

You sure it was off brand? I can't really imagine that happening but if you saw that then maybe it's possible. Do you remember what post that was?

Hello! Sorry for the confusion, but I meant that a bootleg could connect to another bootleg of the same brand in that post. I still have it, but I unfortunately cannot test the connection to a v1 or v2 as I only have a v4. I'm really curious if it would just give an error or if it would transmit data of some kind, even if buggy.

Oh okay! Thank you so much for clearing that up. I misunderstood.

Well that makes my search a bit easier now. Instead of looking for similar devices, I'll just collect the best, Tamagotchi. :)

I'm thinking about just trying to collect different types of versions. I'm still waiting for my v3 and my (several) 20th anniversary edition devices to get here. I think next on the list will be one of the older versions of the Tamagotchi Connection series.

Reason being, I think I prefer the older setup rather than the newer, colorful, realistic looking ones. I don't know why, I just like the old fashioned designs.

Well, you're definitely not the only person. Thankfully there's way more versions to choose from when it comes to old school models than there is modern ones, so there's lots you can connect.

Well, you can get 168-in-1 and 49-in-1 cyber pets. XD They're... well, IDK how to explain them. XD There's an article about them... lemme get a link. ;)

Lol I have more of those than I care to admit. I've tried playing them, but I just can't.

It's like they take everything fun about the real Tamagotchis.

But I decided to instead direct my attention towards trying to have a diverse collection of Bandai Tamagotchis. Since making this post, I've ordered quite a bit of varieties of Tamagotchi (real ones, lol). And still waiting for my others to arrive in the mail. I went a little crazy, lol.

One of these days, I'm gonna make a list of my collection to show off on this site. :p
