Hi there, I'm new to TamaTalk and the tamagotchi world too,

I realised my Tama was overweight weighing a whooping 49lbs what's the average

weight for a child and how can I decrease the weight

Depending on what version it is, weight usually doesn't matter. It might matter in older versions, but I've had good care adult characters that weighted 99lbs.

But you can decrease it by playing games. But you really don't have to. In v2 and v3, it's even beneficial for a character to weight a lot, because they're more likely to win at the "Bump" game.

if this is a connection, weight does have an impact on growth being overweight does have a negative impact the level of care given and impacts the growth (this is from my observations on the V1-V3, and the V6 connections) on the colour tamagotchis it has no impact.

Typically the optimal weight for a toddler is 5-10lbs depending on the tamagotchi you are talking about you can play games to decrease their weight, the colours each game drops 1 lb. on the Connections how well you do in the game will dictate how much weight is lost if you do sorta bad you will lose 1 lb, if you do okay 2lb if you get close to winning or your win you lose 3lb. Your tama will stop playing games when their weight cannot drop by 3lb (as in it will go below the optimum weight) so it will stop 2 lb above the optimum weight, 1lb above or at the optimum weight

I am not sure if colours will stop playing at their optimum weight I really doubt it

Hmm, I don't know, I remember getting Mametchi on the connections fairly often, and I'm too lazy to play games on my tamas, I always overfeed them with snacks. Except for the Music Star, where overfeeding isn't that easy.

On colors they don't stop playing at their optimum weight, though on 4U there are a few post adult transformations related to weight.
