Hi what version is this tamagotchi 20th anniversary considered? Ei: V1 V2 V3?...etc.

If that doesn't answer your question, only Tamagotchis labeled with a V1, V2 etc were English connections, and connections only.

2. BTW mentioned only connections only. The Tama Friends & later Dreamtown werent even connections. (They use BUMPING!) But they were called V8 and V9. Versions.

No, it's still a mini. It has been in the US before and it was called a Mini. It's based on a P1 for what it's worth.

I don't really hear of people calling Friends that and I don't think there has ever been any indication of that name on the packaging? Tama Go isn't v7 either. Versions v2 through v6 are called that because that's how they're called on the packaging. Since V1 was the first it isn't called that on the packaging but it's just a logical conclusion, since there's a v2.

Simply not all Tamagotchi models are "versions", especially not Japanese ones, which are completely separete from English versions as well. Entama isn't either called a v4 or isn't even a "Japanese v4", it's a different and separate version, for example. And not all English ones are either.

I read somewhere browsing diff tamagotchi topics, they were referring to a certain Tama. (I forgot which one it was.) The ones after the Connections ones were "loosely" (meaning not really) called V7 V8 V9... so on so forth.

So that made me think thats the way how they keep track of Tamas releases in sequential order.

Pretty much it, they're not officially called V7 etc...

Tamagotchi mini is referred to as the tamagotchi mini, and is really just a release of the tamagotchi chibi which saw an english and japanese release circa 2005.

The Japanese connections have different mechanics to the english connection "equivalents". Though they can be considered as:

Tamagotchi plus <> Japanese V1

Keitei Kaitsuu Tamagotchi Plus/K-tama <> Japanese V3

Chou Jinsei Enjoi Tamagotchi Plus/Entama <> Japanese V4

Ura Jinsei Enjoi Tamagotchi Plus/Uratama <> Japanese V4.5

It's better to just use their names honestly. There's not that many English versions compared to Japanese ones, besides these names are already imbedded in the community's vocabulary, if you say something about a v7 or a v8 people would probably be confused as what do you mean, and especially inventing a new name would confuse people even more. Especially in regard to Mini considering how it's a re-release of a version that has already been there since 2005.

The "V7" name makes sense, though, since it is compatible with some other members of the Connection line.

Booted up my Dream Town and in the option for "BFF Bump" it mentions "Tamagotchi V9". Since the trend of connection menus is to have an option for same version connection and then an option for everything else, the Dream Town is the V9, the original Friends is the V8, and thus the Tama-Go is the V7. However, although internally these models have those names, as Jhud pointed out the community has one way of referring to them and thus using anything else would be impractical. Additionally, using model names like 4U+, Akai, and Dream Town is more useful because it is more unique.

Basically its jus only a fun way for me to keep track my tamas (I hav bout 8 of them most all in english except for japanese idl, & im getting more & more english ones!) up in sequential order ranging fr vintages to now.

Cuz i dont run all my tamas same time but i like to set them all out in front of me on table by lining them up horizontally; look at them, their shell designs, admire d beauty/scene of many diff versions I hav, admire what a legendary Timeline the japanese created since english creation V1 til now!

That's all! Nothing too complicated.

And next thing im gonna do is since now someone mentioned earlier that Mini came out in 2005, I'm going to find out which english connection it falls in b/n so i cud put it in its place

Being an almost spinoff device, the Mini wouldn't have a version number as it is neither a predecessor nor successor of any model - thus eliminating any possibility it could be a ".5" version like the V4.5 and V5.5. Furthermore, the sequence only goes up to V9 as the rereleases of the Mini and the upcoming Original Tamagotchis will not continue the sequence as they already have their sequence "number". The Mini could fit into a sequence of order of release or perhaps even year of release (which found on the Tamagotchi Wiki).

Just for the record, the sequence by versions is V1 (noted to be implied by Jhud), V2, V3, V4, V4.5, V5, V5.5, V6 (Music Star), V7 (Tama-Go), V8 (Original Tamagotchi Friends), and V9 (Tamagotchi Friends Dream Town). There hasn't been an original English Tamagotchi to date and perhaps the sequence will be broken by a new version that doesn't follow the sequence and can't connect to either version of the Tamagotchi Friends.

Y'know, I wonder if I could freak out non-tama people by how I recounted that entire chronology from memory. I can even do the vintage one too @_@

Edit: Nope. I checked Project TamaShell and was going to put the Devilgotchi right after the Angelgotchi, even though I knew for a fact that the Devilgotchi earned its rarity due to being released so late in the vintage Tamagotchi life-span. Then it turns out Project TamaShell got it wrong as the Tamagotchi Wiki claims that the sequence went Originals, Mothra, Angel, Genjintchi, etc. So many tamas released in Japan in 1997 makes me realized I would be broke if I grew up there and then.
