The most demanding tamagotchi

I'm thinking of buying a "vintage" tamagotchi. Since I was an adult I have only played with a colors tamagotchi, and as a child I never had an orginal one... but I have very good memories of virtual pets in black and white.
I currently have a lot of free time and I would love to have one that was extremely demanding (that keeps me very busy attending to it at all times).
Which one would you recommend?

Really demanding? Wow, can't say I've ever heard people asking for that before XD If you want the most demanding vintage Tamagotchi, look no further than the Umino (or Tamagotchi Ocean). The Umino is brutal as not only can they die really easily - they have short life spans to begin with - but even the game it has to keep up its happiness can randomly trigger an event that completely wipes it out. On top of that, the Umino has a feature where the growing aquatic tamagotchi can get attacked by things (I'm not sure if it is anything else beyond polar bears) and a motion censor must be tapped to scare threats away. Too many successful attacks and the tamagotchi dies. I hear Uminos can't be paused either, because that disrupts their routine. On top of all that, even the creators acknowledged that they expected most people not to even see the adult stage (reference).

Here's two good resources for the Umino from Mimitchi.com and Ginjirotchi.ca (both of them are good friends). That should give you all the info you'll need to know about the Umino/Ocean. Another note, don't try finding and English Tamagotchi Ocean because they are incredibly expensive, being the last vintage Tamagotchi released in English. The Japanese ones are much more reasonably priced and the language is token in all vintage versions, so there will be no problems with that.

You're very kind! The truth is that I do not know much about the thematic versions, and I did not know this tamagotchi.
I have reviewed the links and it seems that it is very entertaining (I am especially excited to have a discipline meter! The color tamagotchi are so docile and call me rarely). I do not know why I feel that it looks a lot like tamagotchi Angel, Devil, Morino ... why is this more "difficult" to take care of than the others?
However, I'm never had an original vintage tamagotchi, and I'm sorry but was thinking of a version that includes classic characters. (Although I see that the Umino is really a challenge, so it will be my second vintage tamagotchi without a doubt!).

I should probably add that in the Tamagotchi community the vintage versions are the ones released during the late 90's, Connections are the reboot that started in 2004, and the modern versions are the colour tamagotchis. Thus if you use "vintage", most will assume you mean the Tamagotchis released in the 90's instead of non-colours.

The Devil, Morino, and Angel are all vintage Tamagotchis and they all have nearly identical models, just with different patterns. Both of those websites I linked to for the Umino have info on other vintages, also. Tamagotchis on any other vintage model have a longer lifespan - usually somewhat over a week - and most do not get attacked by other creatures. Additionally, the only way they lose happiness hearts is by time or being disciplined, thus they are allot easier to take care of. On the vintages, things often boil down to the routine pattern of making sure the tamagotchi is fed, played with, and cleaned up (usually they need a little something every hour but they could nearly go for 2 hours with no care).

When you do get an Original Tamagotchi, I would recommend you get a P2 as its game is much easier to win. However, since you are up for a challenge, the P1 may be just fine as its game is dependent on luck which can make it very frustrating at times (although there are ways to maximize your chances).

One early Connection model that does feature allot of classic characters - predominately from the original Tamagotchis and the Osutchi and Mesutchi - is the V2. Unfortunately, it shares the mold of the V1 which has less characters and features and also has a more modern mix of characters. Aside from maybe a few distinct designs, the only way a V2 can be told apart from a V1 is when its turned on. V1s have (shiro)babytchi as their baby character which resembles a blob, while V2s have (shiro)petichi which resembles a teardrop-shaped blob with legs. Packaging would tell allot but most Tamagotchis are not sold with their original packaging.

Definitely, I think I want a Connections (P1 and P2 are more like the fake ones that I played as a child, but now I see few characters).
I've been watching and I like these:
- V2 and V3: discipline meter, it seems tender to keep the option of light on/off, oldie characters, there are foods that they love and hate, fun games, secret codes, the matchmaker comes.
- V4: discipline meter, oldie characters, there are foods that they love and hate, the mail function seems fun (receives many letters and can ruin him life hahah), the personality points are entertaining, get a work, secret codes, the matchmaker comes .
- Entama: a point against is losing the discipline meter ... but they cook !, fun games, oldie characters, get a work and can win stars in their work (V4 also earn stars?), the matchmaker comes, when he do poop he sounds! It's in Japanese and I do not know if it would be difficult for me.
- V5: points against is that the matchmaker does not come (although it takes place dating, I prefer matchmaker) and there are no oldie characters. It has no discipline meter (bad), but in exchange it has a% bond and it sounds every 2 hours. Some fun games, several tamagotchi on the screen, it takes effort to get different families.

The Entama's cooking is not very good, since the salesman only comes twice a day, and he doesn't always offering an ingredient. The jobs are better on the V4(.5) because you actually get to play minigames. On the Entama, you just watch them leave and return. There are no stars on the V4(.5) -- how much money you make depends on how well you play the minigames.

The V4 is the most demanding if you want to get a full experience. The V2/3 are the most demanding whether you throw yourself into it or not (but the V2 has the Jump game, which is VERY short and easy if you need to increase happiness in a pinch). The V5 has tough games, but isn't demanding beyond that. It'll call for bonding often, but nothing happens if you don't respond (unlike with training). Also, there are few characters on the V5, and you usually get 2-3 at once, so you'll end up with a lot of repeat characters.

I'm disappointed to know that about the Entama, I thought that the jobs had a game! The characters in V4.5 do not seem so cute to me, and the v5 seems pretty decaffeinated.

You're welcome. I agree that the Ura characters are uglier than their regular counterparts, but I like the V4.5 games more than the V4 or Entama ones (4.5 > 4 > Entama).

Also, the Entamas grow at half-speed. That's something to consider.

Ugly tamas? So mean, you meanie Just joking I'd have a hard time calling any tamagotchi ugly but I'll agree some I feel pretty mixed on, like Ura Zukyutchi (she looks much better on the M!X).
