Hello guys.

I'm honestly disappointed with the Tamagotchi Meets and where it's going. There are a few reasons why I'm skeptical, but hopefully these problems will be fixed or won't be so bad in the future.

1) The Bluetooth Connectivity

I think it's quite... interesting that they're doing something like this again. It's sort of like Tamatown and the 4U just got jumbled together and make this. With most tamagotchis, you can usually get all features, but with the 4U, some of the features are nonexistant until you get the app, which wouldn't even work. It's sort of like a Pay to Win scenario, because you literally have to buy a new phone to get the features. However, this problem might not persist in the Meets, as they're using Bluetooth. Also, the page I got this info from said it was probably going to be a "Japan exclusive." So I'm really hoping this is something you can do on the side, and you can still have fun with the toy, even if you don't do all this. Hopefully this will be a cool feature.

2) The Character Selection

Okay, I've been looking at the character selection a bit. I'm glad to see some fan-favorites like Mametchi, Kuromametchi, and Kikitchi in there. However, it seems like their is always a formula - a bipedal, colorful, cartoon pet based off of something. Some do look pretty neat, though, but really, they could've been a lot more creative.

Anyways, that's all my ranting I guess. I'm really looking forward to the Tamagotchi Meets, and I'm planning to get a green one for Christmas. I'll need to watch some YouTube reviews prematurely, though. I just hope these issues don't end up so bad, and that the Bluetooth will actually work.

If I missed anything or if you disagree, go on ahead, I'd be happy to hear your input. Thanks for reading!

Meets and 4U are different though.

Meets doesn't use ONLY bluetooth, it still has IR. The bluetooth is only for the app which probably WON'T have any downloadable content on it, given the fact that they are updating M!X stations to put the downloadable content on.

In case you didn't know- previous color versions that have download functionality via IR were compatible with phones that had IR. However, M!X uses an IR frequency that DOESN'T work with phones with the purpose of it being only usable with M!X stations. So that's even WORSE than the 4U, because while at least for the 4U you can buy a new phone or even borrow one from someone, with M!X you actually have to go to Japan to get the downloadable content, or send your M!X to someone who can download them for you.

4U doesn't have any ""hidden features"" available only with the app. It has all features already in it. The problem is, it just has very little characters and items. That's why it's boring without the app, because it has very little built in.

The main problem with 4U is that not EVERY phone works with it- not only it has to be an Android that has NFC, but it also needs a very SPECIFIC kind of NFC, not all phones work, it's a hit or miss. However, all modern phones have Bluetooth, so it shouldn't be a problem with Meets.

As for the Meets app, I won't worry about it at all. It's easy to download foreign apps, on Android you can just download an .apk file, while on iOS you can just make a Japanese account. As for the longevity of the app (all apps get deleted in the end, after all), I'm sure Mr. Blinky will do the same thing he did with the 4U app- or at least I hope he will. That way it will stay forever, and MAYBE even be translated to english.

As for the character designs, that's a more personal opinion, and I get where you're coming from. But If you look at them some of them are TRYING to be more like the classic characters, but they have to stay bipedal for easier character mixing. Their silhoettes can't be too different or mixes would be... weird, after all.
