You don't have to have friends!

But the matchmaker will come!

That's the only way to get a baby........Unless you do have friends on your tama.

if you don't mate with one of your's or your friends tamagotchi, then the matchmaker will come

well thats why they have the matchmaker - if ther is no-one around your age of the right sex, then the matchmaker will offer you a partner!
