I think the prices vary because if p1 is what i think it is then you can only buy it from somebody who has one from when they were a kid or on ebay or something.

nowadays you kind find them on ebay for various prices. the cheaper ones are around $16.99 or maybe even lower if you're lucky. they're normally cheaper because the color/design is more common.
