you cant turn it off you can pause it. Its like turning it off sorta. This effects their growth though. To pause press the two front buttons together.

If you want to stop playing with your tamagotchi completely, simply place the little plastic tab back inside, or remove the batteries.

 
Oh no! neva mind the best thing to do is to pause it! it might mess up the time abit but it is worth if if u dont want ur tama to die! HOPE THIS HELPS!

Well say if you didn't want to pause it you can take the battery out really easily and when you want to look after it again you simply place it back in and press download.
