how do i press download.

On your Tamagotchi? Press the B (2nd) button.

For example if you change batteries, the screen will show an egg, push button B, and then select Download rather than Reset. Is that what you mean?

On my birthday (when I received my Tamagotchi) my friends came over. I got photos taken and when I looked back at my Tamagotchi I found it had reset itself. Since I was new to Tamagotchi (and did not read the instructions either), I said, "Oh no! My Tamagotchi is dead!" One of my friends saw and downloaded it, but covered the buttons and screen so I couldn't see what was going on.

I met one of my friends at school the other day. "Push this," they said, pointing to the B button, "and then select Download." I get it now.
