Strange but can happen. If you pause your Tama for long periods of time, it can mess up it's age count, how happy and hungry it is, etc... I guess my only advice is, don't pause for too too long!
Yeah, putting a tamagotchi on pause for long periods of time can mess up it's growth/age/etc and it can take an awfully long time for it to evolve, so try not to pause it so much.
