What exactly does debugging do? Isn't it like something for a secrec charrie or what? And how do you do it properly (as in, where do you rub the pencil)?

Debugging allows you to choose whichever character you want your Tama to be when it's an adult. It still goes through the normal aging process, though.

I don't recommend debugging, since you can easily break your Tama. You have to open the first two screws up then take the plastic covering off. Take your battery off, firsty. Underneath that there are four more screws that you need to twist and open up. Take the battery and tape it over where it used to be (but don't press TOO hard!). Under that there should be a button that says "Debug" in capital letters. If you have a Tamagotchi Connection, rub your pencil between the two circles about eight times (lightly). It's better if you do this with a dull pencil. Put everything back together, then reset your Tama. Choose "Download". Then it'll let you pick whichever character you want.

Once again, I really don't recommend debugging your Tamagotchi unless you REALLY feel the need to. It sort-of takes the fun out of raising your pet.
