After your tamagotchi has changed for the last time, (usually when it is 6 years old or so), the matchmaker will appear on the screen, and your tamagotchi will beep for you. At this point, another tamagotchi will be introduced to yours, and the question, "love? yes or no" will appear on the screen. If you select yes, then the two tamagotchi's get married, the screen goes dark for a second or two, and a baby tamagotchi appears with your first tamagotchi. 
The mate is not shown again as far as I've seen. Hope this is helpful! (if you say no, then your tamagotchi goes on as usual until the matchmaker appears again).

It can get married 2 ways. You can connect with another tama until 4 hearts appear. Then during a connection your tama will get married! If you fail to find a mate during 5,6, or 7th stage don't worry! the matchmaker will come and give your tama a husband or wife.

Well Tamas can sort of get married... they can fall in love and have a baby, or the matchmaker can come and you can meet somene to have a baby with....
