tamagotchi won't wake up

Hi - I'm trying to help my little boy with his Tamagotchi. His battery wore out and we bought a new one (careful to buy the one listed on the back) and replaced it. We then pushed the reset button. It's now been almost a day and while we see an egg on the screen, it hasn't hatched. I believe the instructions say that it should hatch within 5 minutes of a reset. The egg is on screen and moving up and down and we have tried pressing the reset a couple of times since, but no luck. Can anyone help? Thanks

After you put batteries in you need to either download it or reset ,just pres a button and it will give you either one of those options. if you chose download it will go back to your tamagotchi you had and if you choose reset it will hatchi in like one miute but you have to press the b button first to set the time and b'day

Well sometimes.If you reset it and you dont press b then.Maybe that is why it's like that.If you do not press b.Then your egg will just sit there.Because if you don't change the time or do you birthday.Then how is your tamagotchi egg suppost to hatch.right?
